Indeed.
I'm not hugely fussed with having to wear one and I quite enjoyed it when I upgraded to sleeker cotton versions to match the rest of my outfits.
But I had yet another moment in the supermarket check out yesterday when I struck up a conversation with the woman serving me and struggled to hear each other so conversations are a bit stunted.
This is literally the few moments I'm in the store so no biggy...just becoming a little jaded now.

I do miss those human interactions. Was mooching about town yesterday for half an hour as my missus was giving blood, so I decided just to walk about. Popped into a coffee shop to grab a quick takeaway one. There was some filming going on on one of the side streets right behind it. Tried to casually ask if they knew much about it while waiting. No one could hear each other. Muffled mess. Gave up quickly. No big deal, stood there in silence, got my coffee. Left... just a bit miserable innit? A soulless, transactional existence. Everyone stood naturally back from each other, no smiles, no conversations. It's not living. It suits some people, I get it, but I do like a brief chat with a stranger or someone in a shop. It can be nice! It kills all that and life is lesser for it.

See, Boris knows what he's doing. Just like Trump with his 'China flu' rhetoric, anything to deflect.

The Uk has by far the highest death toll in Europe and has had much stricter restrictions in place for a lot longer.

I'm in Valencia where my two kids haven't missed a day of school since September and where, apart from 4/5 weeks after Christmas, shops, bars, hairdressers, restaurants etc have all remained open. But yeah, let's all blame europe and the EU for the UK mess.

I know where I'd rather have been these past few months even with a tentative approach to vaccines.
I despise this charlatan more than I've ever despised a politician, and the way that the public fall for his deviousness makes me want to tear my hair out. How can people not see through him?!?!?

My friend in Spain has a different take. She lives in remote hills and has to drive some way to get supplies. She is regularly stopped by the police who inspect her purchases and find she has broken some imaginary reg or other and attempt to give her a fine. Yeah right.

Noticed a bit of dip in your positivity mate...hope those pesky family members aren't turning you.

Not a huge one as I said above....I tend to 'gesticulate' more in public (hope that's the correct turn of phrase...the last time I got this wrong I ended up trouble) and communicate more with my eyes (and same with those I'm engaging with).

Amazing news from Northern Ireland - first sub 100 cases total in any UK nation in months.

1 death - was 1 last week

87 cases - was 121 last week

8.7% positivity - was 12.1 % last week

8 Care home outbreaks - was 8 yesterday and 17 last week

160 patients - UP 2 in day - was 182 last week

12 Ventilated - down 1 in day - was 16 last week

Again patients up slightly. Suspect this means England might rise too a little.

But as noted not too unusual on a Monday.

Where the fuck is that? Sounds like complete bollocks unless you're talking about the first 6 weeks on the pandemic last year.

No, they're all fine tbh! I think that's probably it though actually. A year of worrying, now both my parents are jabbed up. Seemingly less to worry about...which I reckon has lead me to look inwards, and fuck me I'm bored and missing life ha. Very stir crazy at the moment. I know we all are, just cracking on innit and trying to not let every little thing annoy you.

Thanks though mate, appreciated!

About an hour or so drive from Benidorm. Local police make it up as they go along. My friend, however, is fluent in Spanish and can tell them to fuck off in perfect Castillian.

Well your friend is talking shit because Benidorm is in the Valencia community and I know the rules that are in place here. So unless she has to cross the Valencia border she shouldn't have any issues. And I'd love to see her tell a Spanish copper to fuck off.

England hospital deaths week to week:

231 / 16 NW / 7%

178 / 14 NW / 8% (23 % fall week to week)

127 / 12 NW / 10% (29 % fall week to week)

101 / 5 NW/ 5% (20 % fall week to week)

76 / 3 NW / 5% (25 % fall week to week)

48 / 7 NW / 15% ( 37 % fall week to week) TODAY

She says she is carefully polite with it. Think you missing the point. They are not enforcing regs, they are making them up!

He tells a certain type of people what they want to hear, that their life would be better if it wasn't for the "others".

I think someone is making things up and I don't think it's the police.

There have been stricter regulations in place since the post Christmas spike that have mostly been eased again now. But compared to the restrictions that have been in in the UK for months now it's paradise here and your friend should count herself very lucky. Especially if she has young kids.

She's an old english lady. English may be the clue.

The reason nobody has created a vaccine for the common cold is that it is not far off 100% effective in this measure on its own without a vaccine.

Interestingly, the "common cold" isn't a single disease - it's a description of symptoms.

Those symptoms are caused by a huge range of different viruses - literally dozens of them.

They're not even all in the same family of viruses, including rhinoviruses, influenza viruses, adenoviruses and others.

A single vaccine against all of them almost certainly wouldn't be a possible - As you imply, no-one would be much interested in taking one anyway, as the effects aren't all that bad.

I did not know that. Thank you. Very interesting.

Having successfully speculated on the Indian export ban being the reason for the slowdown in vaccination coming, allow me some further speculation about the current EU/UK vaccine row.

Without at all opining as to who is right and who wrong, we can note that a second EU based (Netherlands) facility is yet to be approved for AZ active ingredient manufacture, but that approval is probably imminent.

We can also note that the EU needs a political victory, and the UK would like to maintain their vaccine leadership.

Lastly, we can note that nothing the EU does with UK vaccines will actually make much of an impact on EU vaccine supply, simply because the EU population is so much larger.

So, a prediction: It will be announced that the AZ facility in the Netherlands has been approved, and will supply vaccines to the EU. This will be presented as a triumph for the EU.

It will be announced that the UK will not export any vaccines, and will continue to import the Pfizer vaccine from the EU. This will be presented as a triumph for the UK.
