Political relations between UK-EU

Yep. Some businesses that plan to move some operations to the EU could choose to re-register and relocate in their entirety if the BoE aren't careful.
One shellfish exporter threatening legal action against DEFRA for denying / not understanding the rules for a third country.

And my nephew's firm makes agricultural equipment, 40% exported worldwide. They've had to take on someone to do the paperwork, and may have to open satellite operations in Ireland and somewhere else in the EU. All chipping away at the marginal profit and competitiveness of a British company.

But we hate our country, so why is this so annoying to me yet fine by the flaglover Brexiters?

Bit by bit its that reduction in our GDP caused by Brexit, labelled as Project Fear and supposedly overcome by looking outwards with confidence. This time next year it will be like the end of Downfall with Johnson poring over maps of the world asking why a cheese monger in Preston isn't exporting cheddar to Venezuela and asking why he never sees cockle stalls when he visits the coast any more with Raab shuffling from foot to foot plucking up the courage to tell him there have been no cockles fished since Jan 2021 and the cheesemongers closed for good 6 months ago......

This is a classic case of Turkey's voting for Christmas. Not only have they voted for it, they plucked themselves gutted themselves, rubbed themselves with herbs oil and garlic, jumped into a baking tin and were gleefully placed into a pre heated oven, as Rule Britania blared out. Only when the door closed and the temperature began to rise, did the giblets drop. Poor Spain, how will it fill the cultural void? It's not everyday all shorts wearing, topless fat guys, talking about how immigrants are cunts are ripped from their realm. I'm sure Gove will throw street parties to welcome them home. Old classic songs will abound, from, Oh, knees up Mother Brown ... It's a long way from Torremelinos, it's a long way to go. Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag and moan moan moan, to
You put your left leg in and shake it all about, you do the hokey Cokey and you turned around, now you're going home to the rain. Oh, where's me fuckin visa? Oh, where's me fucking visa, oh where's me fucking visa, bags packed, buy some fags, home home home..

Adios amigos
Exactly .Total gobshites !

I’ve missed so much of this thread but has the US trade ‘discussions’ been mentioned on here (Biden not budging)?
Appreciate if it’s not directly related to these discussions but doesn’t sound ace if our transatlantic cousins aren’t going to play as nicely as we’d hoped.

Well if you check the US political thread you’ll see that Biden is a senile old fart, so you shouldn’t mind anything coming out of him.

I thought there was a mutual agreement, between the EU and UK, to allow those resident at a given date to be allowed to stay?

So either Spain is unilaterally imposing its own law counter to that of withdrawal agreement or all these cases are for people who didn’t qualify due to not having appropriate residency status at said date. Only the former is a newsworthy story.

Spain is applying Exactly the same rules for Brits living in the Eu as we are applying for Eu citizens living in the UK.

Gove lied.

Todays Brexit Bonus is

One thing this farce is doing is to show the incompetence of the Tories.

when published the Q1 trade figures are going to need explanations and invention of epic proportions - I know 11 years on the state of the economy is the fault of the last Labour Govt but will "teething problems" be acceptable as an excuse for that length of time?

Some good news for illegal immigrants in Spain.
The Spanish government have refuted claims that they will actively round up British citizens living illegally in Spain after the deadline. They might struggle to access any services there that they previously took for granted and if they are routinely checked they are still likely to be deported just like any other illegals but the good news is that they can continue to live there on the same basis as, for example, many of the lucky lucky men on the beach.

So any of them that have ever annoyed a copper (or indeed any other legal resident) should start booking flights.

Yep, I know of many who are happier taking the risk to stay rather than head back to the UK. They basically have to spend the rest of their time here hoping to never be pulled over in a car, avoiding getting ill, somebody being daft enough to employ them (if not retired) on a cash in hand basis and the myriad of day to day things which could blow their cover. Not exactly living the dream.

I'm willing to bet those are exactly the same people that would like their equivalents in the UK to be rounded up and deported, and get tumescent when they read about Priti Patel's plans for tightening up the entry requirements for asylum seekers.

Ronnie Biggs had it better than that

My wine order was late. I phoned to be told that all new imports of EU wine are subject to delay as soon as they hit the UK. Stockpiled in customs in the UK. 'We expect them when they arrive at our warehouse' the man on the phone said. I thought we were simply waving stuff through. Not if there is alcohol involved it would seem. Fuck Brexit and all who sailed in her. A man needs his pouilly fume and sancerre.

I did post last week that the wine shelves at our local Tesco were looking bare. They've now shut down the top shelf and hidden it behind cardboard advertising so that they can redistribute the wine in an attempt to make it look better.

As you say ''Fuck Brexit and all who sailed in her''

Yeah.
And I’m still awaiting my dispatch of langoustine from Scotland.

Something tells me Johnson, Gove, JRM and the bars in the HoC will be ok for wine this summer though....... just a guess but we know what "we are all in this together" looks like to this bunch of gangsters
