I‘m a KFA but if we time things properly and slap £85/90m on the table, with £350pw... for Haarland I very much doubt anyone would match that this summer and Dortmund may consider it better to grab the money rather than wait IF the player wants to take the offer.
Fuck all chance Haaland is coming for 350 pounds a week. We need to stretch that to a grand and he’s ours.

I’m not in the same game as those two, never mind the same league - they have a finger on the pulse that I am no where near.

Mine is just an optimists view, and a clear understanding of the owners and how professional they are with everything they do.
It's easy to be an ITK on here, just say we are going to spend a fortune including Haaland and Grealish and you are ITK. If you say we might be quite prudent you are a KFA.

We won't be signing Haaland. We've never really every signed a superstar. Haaland would probably go to Liverpool or the Rags before us anyway due to their history..........

I dont get this and everyone thinking this way.

Are you saying you’d rather the club played with sergio and kept him on the hook until we seal a replacement and then toss him away?
Risking a leak in and around a crucial game.

Or, if not play with him, say thanks for everything sergio but ask him to keep his mouth shut so we can replace him on the quiet knowing he was no longer part of our plans?

He deserves better. And we’ve treated him with respect and professionalism.

Expecting to sign a player like haaland without a circus surrounding it is also naive.

have a read what you wrote, too many reliable people on bluemoon to believe possible pep the manager of manchester city ? .
we hear about a big summer every season, never really happens.

people go way over the top believing what they want to believe ,

i said on the ferran torres thread i thought maybe he would take the forward role, only my opinion, only a hunch but i saw something in him, a well respected poster @Rascal said he had been told from a relieable person that we werent going to get a cf ,

i hope we get the best man for the job, mbappe, haaland, ings doesnt matter to me , as long as pep is happy with what we start the season with then im happy.
I'm in total agreement with you regards to Pep being happy with the squad that starts the season, if so then there is every reason to be confident for the future. I know it's Tolmie's job to put some life into the It's Quiet thread but he and Ahsan have good contacts and both seem excited about the summer, more so than usual.

I think the story of Sergio being told City would be signing a pure number 9 and that he would be mostly on the bench was attributed to Pol Ballus who is clearly very close to Pep. Looking closely at Pep's interview I would say he is being truthful but is specifically talking about the ridiculous sums (150M-180M, 600k wages) being bandied about rather than not actually replacing Aguero, just the way the press have reported things makes it look more like Pep is saying City won't sign a striker.

I think City are pretty intent on signing Haaland but they are still well aware of the perception of spending vast amounts of money in the current climate and Pep is doing his bit by quieting all that stuff down, especially with the two games against Dortmund to come.

Whatever happens and whoever signs I think we can be satisfied City are in the best hands possible.

Some right fannies on here. I trust Pep, “the Spanish guys” and the club to get the right player at the right price. I have and I don’t think anyone on this forum, has a clue who that will be but I can’t wait to find out

If we dont get Haaland im really liking the look of Andre Silva was just looking up some stats on him.Looks to be hitting his Prime at 25 years of age.

All his goals

Why wouldn't Real & Barca throw themselves in the hat??

All PR for thete millions of fans, they won't sign
P
Absalutely holding off while we have big big games ahead, we need everyone focused while Tixi & Co look after all the other shit

Deals like Haaland don't get done in a couple of weeks City have played there cards imo & just need some shuffling to be done

Fuck Spain they cant spend jack shit, Bayern arnt in the frame & UTD& Chelsea I don't see them either at the table otherwise the wankers would be allover it

This is City v Dortmund I'm 100% sure of it, Raola will get the best for everyone that's how he plays money from Dortmund, City & Haaland himself

Wonder how things will go in the VIP lounge next week v Dortmund

So on the one hand your saying why wouldn’t Real or Barcelona throw their hat in the ring on the other your saying like me they cannot afford it tell me have you ever bid for a house that’s worth twice what you can afford no you have not that’s why I am saying I don’t get this whole Real Barcelona link if as I and you suspect they are miles of why have a talk with him you don’t see for example Fulham trying to muscle in on this or any other deal they cannot afford

All Pep has said is that we wont buy a striker at these prices (we also have to remember his English isnt perfect and he occasionally stumbles)....

To me this is just a reaction to supposed qouted prices of 150m etc - he isnt saying we wont buy a striker full stop or indeed not go for Haaland...all clubs will have a limit on how much they will be able/want to spend and we will to.....Dortmund.Raiola may price Haaland out of a move to anyone if they stick to that valuation.....only the likes of Madrid and Utd would go to those lengths in my opinion...(if the quoted prices are even true)

I know he likes to play the false 9 but he has also alluded in the past that we need to be more clinical in front of goal..he knows Sterling and Jesus, for all their positive attributes, are not that player.....

we are promoting delap but I highly doubt Pep will pin his job and the teams hopes on an 18 year old player.

I dont believe for one second we wont go and get reinforcements of some kind upfront with Sergio departing....it may or may not be Haaland...we may go for him and someone else may get him. Either way it would be a huge mistake to not bring in some sort of attacking reinforcement with Sergio leaving.

Messi is still a factor as well - if Pep wants to play the false 9 hen who better? - again he may change his mind and stay at barca but he may not.

The season isnt over, nothing will be decided by anyone (including the likes of Raiola, Haaland (Jnr and Snr) before then....we will have put the ground work in already on who we are or are not going to go for......As a word of optimism... we spent all last summer supposedly after Koulibaly - he was supposedly the best out there and what we needed....we ended up with Dias for a lot less and look how that turned out!

Think the spanish guys were a bit naive to announce that Aguero was leaving at the end of the season, when we are just about to get into the nitty gritty of trying to get has much silverware has possible .
Now the prices of all players linked will go up daft & pg will be asked every interview going about certain players we may go for , will be tiresome, brought this on themselves ,do they not know by now how the press work with their gutter dross in the uk ?
You need to look in the mirror to see who is naive

Totally agree on the uncertainty.

Realistically, no club can afford to shell out 150m on Haaland this summer and whether he leaves Dortmund this year at all is very uncertain in my view.

If Dortmund aren’t sure they can over 100m for him this summer - and again that’s far from certain given the third Covid wave in Europe and the issue with TV rights in a number of leagues (France and Italy in particular) - then they could just keep the guy for another year and sell him for his release clause next summer. Dortmund may simply see another season of Haaland and his 30-ish goals as more valuable than an early sale and a roughly 20m premium to his release clause (as someone would surely pay 75m for him next summer). And why would City shell out 150m for him if they know that the next highest bid is going to be around 100m or lower?

I do think Haaland would be great for us but my hunch is that he stays put for a year, and more generally, there may be a lack of big deals in the market this summer as everyone (buyers and sellers) see how things develop next season.

As for alternatives, how about getting Iheanacho back?

Personally, I was sorry to see him go and he’s a more natural goal scorer than Jesus, plus we have a buyback clause so we wouldn’t have to pay over the odds. That might be a left field choice but I think we could do a lot worse if we can’t get one of the top tier targets, and he probably has a lot of improvement in him as well.

My interpretation of this is that they wont be breaking the PL transfer record this summer.. and in a pandemic and all. Khaldoon has been very clear in every interview he does that he does not want to break these individual records, (speculation: To be seen as that publicly, and for the teams cohesion in the dressing room as well) and Pep has often echoed these sentiments during the seasons as well.

That means that any transfer this summer would have to get under the Pogba 89m£/105m€ fee to Juve (club to club, semi-total fee), and I just cant see Haaland getting anyway near that, especially when his clause next summer is well below that as well.. So I conclude from that that Lautaro Martinez and Joao Felix etc among others still is in the running, if any at all this summer.
