Didn't the club say something about signing a generational signing.

That either means delap, given how long Forden took to be introduced, delap won't be the answer yet.

Or were going to sign a player that doesn't fit the previous mould of signings. That means too dollar.

Peps comments are just distancing himself and sending message that we'll walk away.

I don't know how much our valuation of Haaland is but I'll be very surprised if there's not a club out there who will pay the extra £10-15m that we won't be willing to. didnt delap sign a contract fee months back and said he know how hard it will be but he looks at foden to see it’s a slow process..

Not sure if that’s a dig, but just in case, I can confirm I’m not a fuckwit, have no pretension of trying to sound like I’m in the know (like 99.99% on here) and am far too old to be speaking ‘twatter speak’.


Perhaps if I’d put it in ‘....’ that might have helped.

Been quite poor and disruptive the last few seasons, doubt we're still interested.

We'll see. I suspect the people saying we don't need a striker right now will be the same people blasting our decision not to replace Agüero come January.

Exactly like with Kompany. We said we didn't need to replace him but by Christmas it was abundantly clear that not replacing him was a huge mistake. In hindsight the decision not to replace him meant winning anything major that season was never going to happen. We can't make the same mistake again.

Not at all. It doesn't take a genius to understand that it means 'a young player who is one of the best of his generation'. Unless it's the concept of using terms for things that you take issue with, which would be odd as that's how language has worked for millennia.

Other options are available, including something different to add to our midfield line-up.

I think this strikerless system we've been playing is a reactive solution, not a proactive one. We're somehow going to win the league without really playing a top striker for most of the season because we have the greatest tactician in the history of the sport at the helm. But ideally we'd have a top striker getting the goals- it's in Pep's nature to use one (Villa, Lewandowski, Agüero have all thrived under him).

To me, playing with no striker has worked out because of a mixture of Pep's ability and some great individual performances (mainly Gundogan. Fuck knows where we'd be if he hadn't stepped up). But I don't think it's going to be a long-term answer.

Agreed. But if we can't afford the best I can't see us bringing in someone not in the top-ish bracket. Alternative 'solutions' may well be required.
