Big, Strong, terrible 1st touch. In our team, where we have players receiving the ball in tight spots, most of the time with their backs to goal, Lukaku would look a talentless oaf, like he did at United only more so.

I hope nobody takes Tolmie too seriously, it is clear he gets the odd bit of info from his media contacts but nobody these days has any real inside track on what city plan to do. A lot of transfers fail to materialise after looking nailed on according to this thread but that’s just down to the nature of the whole process where nothing is guaranteed.
There are a few posters on here who are far too needy but I think the majority take the thread in the good spirit intended.

I don't mind saying that what I'd heard about Grealish came from Barnett's office (that's his agent).

Personally I think City probably know that they are the only team with the liquidity to do Grealish/Haaland and are therefore trying to drive prices down by claiming no interest due to transfer fees.

There's so much still to play out that the smart thing to do is to not get too invested in headlines right now. Until the CL is over, City aren't going to do anything which would confirm/deny any interest in potential transfers this summer IMO.

Once we've won the quad they'll start being a bit less guarded :)

To be fair I don't think City bosses know how it's going to work out. A bit like Francis Lee taking a penalty, if he doesn't know where it's going what chance has the goalie got?

We appear to have set our costings so if it works within that maximum great, otherwise look elsewhere or don't spend at all. So even a negotiator is still waiting for a counter offer before decision time.

Nobody knows that figure except our negotiators so unlikely to be leaked except as a false no9 but what's wrong with speculation at this stage?

I don't think it is harsh by @Rascal tbh. Maybe unfair to single tolmie out, but there are two or three proper bullshitters on here that seem to get off on the attention. It's all harmless fun I suppose, but after the messi thread last year and of course the 3000 page thread on Pogba replete with cryptic youtube clips and many others I'm sure I've forgotten it's fair to call bullshit when you see it. I'm sure in the manner of a stopped clock these same posters get it right occasionally too. I'm not even saying they should stop, just that spouting months of nonsense shouldn't confer some sort of protected status as a BM holy deity.

I've mentioned umpteen times over the years that I know from personal experience that you can have well sourced information on transfer intentions that ultimately come to nothing. I have no sources now but at one point over a decade ago my brother had a very useful source for a couple of years.

Rascal himself thought he was a bit harsh tbf. Tolmie isn’t protected, certainly not by me. Respected, sure.
The bullshitters come and go every transfer window, of course they should be called out.
