Not sure how he can be as bad as his current performances demonstrate ?

If it's a confidence issue, it's going to be a huge task to restore it going off performances like today.

And before anybody piles in, I am a fan of his.

Like against Liverpool and Spurs, when he's running at the full back he's at his best.

Now he just slows everything down, invites pressure and contact as if he wants the foul more than beating his man; the Neymar school of shithousery

He definitely skipped the class „ how to dribble“ by Neymar .

he played very poorly again. The number of times he gave the ball away must give Pep apoplexy. Having said all that, other than Stones, nobody shone going forward. Leeds defended well.

We should get him on the transfer list and see what materialises,i predict fuck all.

But,if by some miracle a club does fancy their chances, and has the insane money to match his current contract, then his transfer fee and wage could definitely be used towards a genuine top class talent.

I suspect the club are beginning to think similar.

Ferran Torres has to have gone up the pecking order. Foden, Mahrez, Torres and then Sterling. We have to consider a bid of 60-70 mil if some one does come up. I'm sorry but costing the team 3 points while trying to impress Pep by wild shots outside the box while we are looking to finish the league off is unacceptable.
Some people won’t/don’t want to hear it but we are at an important crossroads with Sterling.

He is 26 years old and if we offer him a new, expensive contract, that’s us saying he is with us for the rest of his career. It will be like the Kane contract situation where nobody really wants to shell out a shitload of cash for a 28/29 year old. With this in mind, and his current terrible form/contribution to the team, the club should be really considering their next move. Sell him and pocket £70/80m and get a huge number off the wage bill, or give him £300k+ pw, and know that if he doesn’t regain his form, we are stuck with him.

We all know he will get the new contract, but it isn’t remotely deserved.

For me he’ll only ever be a good/very good player on occasions but not a top class player as his technique is just not good enough. When needed 2nd half today he was totally anonymous

I'm very surprised by the enormous outpouring of negativity towards the lad. He's world class, but just needs to get his angles back. Too much pessimism in the world as it is..

We sell Sterling and we can afford Haaland. No brainer at the moment.

Not even close. He has some world class attributes when at the top of his game, but you cannot be a world class footballer, when you can’t kick a football properly.

I’m sure the usual suspects will be along shortly to tell us he’s “world class”, but he just isn’t. Powderpuff shots from 25 yards that ended up in Row YY, dribbles where he ends up losing control and stumbling into a defender, passes under an overlapping player’s feet, a mis-hit shot out of his heel (of a type we’ve seen umpteen times before) from a ball rolled perfectly across to him, crosses clubbed haplessly over everyone’s heads and out for a goal kick - the only one missing for the set today was tripping himself up.
You know what, he might score his share of goals, he might make some great runs, his general movement might be good, but those attributes also have to be weighed against self-evident issues concerning basic technique and a brain that doesn’t operate at the same speed as his feet. He’s been abject for weeks, if not months. The fact that he’s English will continue to hold him in good stead for a good while, but he can’t go on playing like this indefinitely without questions being asked. Not alone in having been awful today - Cancelo and, unsurprisingly, Mendy were also woeful, and Fernandinho switched off too often as well - but that’s no real mitigation. Will probably raise his game with better players (Kev, Foden, etc) around him, but in games like today, when you’re looking for him to be the main man, he seems incapable of delivering at the moment
