Joy Division / New Order thread

That's absolutely terrible. Nearly as bad as when Hooky got Rowetta to sing it.

Yeah, not quite sure what to make of it. I’d not heard it before, but thought it might be of interest.
Weatherall obviously liked it; I just stumbled upon it after listening to a great BBC radio show about Dub reggae - ‘Dub Revolution: The Story of King Tubby’

I have also seen there's plenty of dates for "Peter Hook and the Light" for UK and Europe in 2022, may hold out for them instead.

Touching From A Distance is pretty grim but is about a relationship as much as about a band. I agree Morris's books are probably the best as Bernards and Hookys continually take pot shots at each other. Paul Morley is releasing a book about Anthony H Wilson later this year which may be good
Ive got TFAD,bit dull, but i expected nothing else tbf.

I thought the Blue Monday Diaries was brilliant, but I suspect it’s only for a hardcore fan like I used to be. I like the intimate details of how they wrote, recorded and socialised back then.
Ive not stumbled across the Blue Monday Diaries, but i do remember an interview in Sounds or NME when a band nember decscribed their time inNew York recording the popular electronic tracks BM and Confusion..with the obvious benefit of state of the art production / synths.." we felt like bank robbers to be honest"

A stark,revealing response i thought.

I lost interest in New order after Thieves like us 12...", id enjoyed the drum machine era,as well as Temptation,Hurt,Age of consent,EGG,etc etc and Movement is my fav album of all time, but the band seemed to evolve into something a bit watery, although lots of other music lovers obviously didnt share my view!

Nothing on Joy Division but a great band still. Shame about them all being up their own arse....it's often reported that Hooky is the one who loves himself but through personal experience he's absolutely sound, always got time for a chat.

Mark Burgess of The Chameleons was saying something on facebook a few months back about seeing them over in LA and they didn't even come out and say hello to him...

anyway...

My lad was working at a Castlefield gig 4 or 5 years ago, while he was setting up the Merch stall, His boss told Hooky my son was a big fan,Hooky walked over and said hello mate, I believe your a fan, asked if he wanted a photo and spent a couple of minutes with him. After the gig when my lad was packing up, Hooky returned, thanked him for his efforts gave him £20 and told him to take whatever he wanted off the stall, then signed a book for him. Top bloke in my opinion
