How many trophies will we win?

We should lock this thread on the eve of the cup games. it's going to be discussed... just not the day of.... shudder. Makes my superstitious bones crawl seeing this top.

*Well aware of the irony of me posting

I only put down PL.
I know it’s not won yet but have faith that we won’t fcuk it up.

The rest I can’t bring myself to speculate on. One game at a time.
Nothing more, nothing less.

Whatever Nate Silver says on football, I ignore. We've been his heavy favourite for the CL for several seasons.

Our top players will have played a few more than PSG and Real players - on the other hand, both are still likely to be fighting for their leagues until the last day. I would worry Neymar would sit on his arse saving himself for us.

Tottenham worry me too. Jose is quite capable of throwing everything possible into the mix to win that one day.

But Chelsea are fighting for top four as well at the CL. I think we should be good enough to beat them when it matters. I'd absolutely eat a loss to them in the league to help us be fresh in the CL. I don't know if they can afford to do the same.

Victims of own success at this point with the fixtures now.

Something has to give. If we could play our best team then rest and repeat, I would give us a reasonable chance of the 4 but we aren’t going to get that.

I hope blues bear that in mind. If we go full out for all four we will probably lose at least 2.

Tricky task for Pep to manage this. Shame we have no Sergio to call on.

The idea about rotation all season is so that players aren’t run into the ground come crunch time, and they are all fresh enough to play as much as possible at the end of the season.

If Dias, Gundogan and Rodri can play so much football all season long, almost everyone of them is capable of playing twice a week for the next month.

Mahrez is doing Ramadan now so he won’t be able to play every game, there are certain games that need Walker and others that need Cancelo so there’ll be rotation there; but other than that, everyone else is now almost playing for their place to play most games.

I’m not saying that will happen, but there’s no reason why it won’t now. It’s the whole idea about rotation through the season.

Do you know what? I don't care and I'm not getting overly excited about the Quadruple. Do I want us to win them all - Hell yes! But sit back and look at where we are and how the season has gone. Nothing is signed, sealed and delivered yet but we are at worst 8 pts clear in the PL with 6 games to go; in the final of the LC; SF of the FAC & SF of the UCL.

So far this has been a great season and has the potential to be a phenomenal one. I'm just going to enjoy the ride whichever way it pans out. The next 5 or 6 weeks is not going to be for the faint hearted.

Agree with all that it‘s just that when you have a final for a trophy it would be usual to field your best team but if you have a CL semi 2 or 3 days later I’m not sure that’s even possible particularly if it goes to ET

How can we be in 2021 and people still don't understand that being favourite doesn't mean you're going to win?

If 538 make us favourites with a 20% chance of winning the tournament - they're expecting us to not win 80% of the time.

Also we've only been favourites to win once - last year.

At the beginning of this season we were second favourites with only a 14% chance, 18/19 we were joint favourites with 2 other clubs, in 17/18 we were 8th favourites.

Good point. I think Extra Time in this day-and-age is really bad for the players.

Footballers are now, more than ever (you could almost say they never were until recently), finely tuned athletes who are trained to play for 90minutes. They are not trained to play for 33% more again on top that, if they were that would affect their anaerobic sprints during the 90minutes games.

Playing for 120mins runs the risk of injuries and future fatigue more than ever. In the past, footballers weren’t ever putting as much high level athleticism into football games for 90minutes, but they still got cramp in Extra Time.

Should be scrapped!

Mahrez, gundogan and Mendy won’t be impacted by Ramadan, there are exemptions which they all follow so won’t be fasting!
