Genuinely ashamed by the club tonight.
We were the last to sign up, it sounds like we’d been given “an offer we couldn’t refuse” in the Godfather sense.

I’m dead against the idea of the Super League, but if we’d not signed up and it went ahead, the club might not even be viable in its current form.

We were dammed if we do, damned if we don’t.

Am sure the proposals published earlier said participating clubs could only spend 55% of their income on wages and transfer fees?
Which ensures we will never win this. Other clubs prestige will mean they will get the best players.

yeah although that income is about to get a massive boost. The yanks will try a salary cap, I’m certain of it.

In a world where all clubs remain in their domestic leagues, the leagues are going to be over by christmas and become a complete farce. The second one team starts to pull away from the rest the other founders fuck the league off, play the kids treat it like an early league cup game every week and rest everybody for the super league games. There's no jeopardy, no consequence to not finishing in the top 4 so why bother competing when winning is gone? Early season fixture lists become crucial and for the rest of the pack looking to survive, they'll want to be playing the founders later on in the season when they'll face weakened sides ruining any merit further down the table too. The more you think about it, the more sickening it gets.

So who's taking home 45% of hundreds of millions? Can obviously see why certain owners have gone for this.

The difficulty for us is that, in my opinion, we were painted into a corner. It would have been commercial suicide not to join this operation.

It's clear to me that this is American driven and that the model is the American NFL. Also, if we look at the investment we received from Silver Lake ($500 million), an American Silicon Valley private equity company, the writing was on the wall. There is no way that they took such a large stake without them having lots of conversations about maximising returns on their financial investments.

Fundamentally it stinks, but we all know that this has been lurking in the background for some time. The fact that is being bankrolled by the US banking giant JP Morgan speaks volumes for who is controlling this decision. Also, we all know that there have been news reports going back to 2019 of plans for a super league. So we can't pretend that this is a shock.

We also need to consider whether this is a gigantic game of bluff, with the clubs involved wanting a greater share of the revenue from the European competitions, and also a say in remodelling the Champions League. It's possible that UEFA will blink, and compromise with the Super League clubs.

I am hoping, perhaps naively, that this will be the case.

Hahahahaha and this isn't a gravy train? No it's more like a gravy Ice Breaker. Real Madrid are already getting more money than anyone else cos it was their presidents idea. This will be gravy like you've never seen before.
Better Real Madrid than the associates of people like Infantino!
