I'm curious, what will motivate the "established" top 6 in domestic competition if they are already guaranteed a european spot in the super league.
Nothing, there'll be a bit of motivation to win the title but it'll pale in comparison to the main event and if they get a bad start domestically they'll only care about staying up.

Great post.

When we talk about human greed I'd chip in Goethe's Dr. Faust, who made the deal with the devil.

Or "The fisherman and his wife":

Greed and the consequences.
Football fans are in a moral dilemma. City fans have to cope with a global growth business model CFG and Chinese investors.
We've made the deal I mentioned above.

Nowadays younger fans don't know football was superb before business took over. City did win domestic and European titles without billions. We've lost matches and won matches.
It's football, we said.
This is a deal even I'd never make! ;)

I’ll be behind whoever pulls on our shirt for every game they play for as long as I’m breathing Kaz.

The fans that have decided they’ll be supporting PSG or Villa against City are welcome, of course, to support anyone they wish in any game they wish. No one is forced to like, love or hate anyone or anything in football, life or love. I feel sad for them as I can’t comprehend what it must feel like for them to feel that way though. I certainly wouldn’t call them names or tell them what to think. It’s all a very sad state of affairs.

I wish the Yank and Madrid based owners that came up with this and put City in the position they did would fuck off though.
Can't be arsed watching at the weekend or the chumps league next week, for me they are not pulling my clubs shirt on. Like the ex wife, still she her occasionally but she means nothing to me. Whatever happens now I'm out, my 50 year marriage is over.

So the question would then be what business does the working class man have in the game anymore? None sadly.
None, you are right. It is sad but I accepted that a long time ago, perhaps because I am younger this isn't hitting me as hard but in 2008 when this takeover happened this was always in the pipeline. When the FFP court cases happened I just knew this was ramping up, people like Sheikh Mansour don't get told what to do by little old Platini and his cronies in Switzerland. We took it on the chin for a good few years, the millions that the club have spent fighting UEFA and the decade they have spent dragging Abu Dhabi through the dirt, then you get a call out of the blue from the chiefs at other clubs to collude and put UEFA in the ground, we probably couldn't sign up quick enough.

  • Players should be banned from all UEFA comps as soon as possible

Macc Town are going to have full houses every week, along with Bolton, Stockport...

I wonder how many people whinging about this actually run businesses?

totally agree it’s just another move away from me as a fan. City as a business will follow the money and can justify it to their shareholders . We have USPE as a shareholder for gods sake.
.
however as a fan i just feel more removed from top flight football. I was contemplating not renewing my season card with var, the diving , cheating and general play acting that goes on . It’s not the same.

this though is just the final nail for me and my match going days at city

i guess we have gone full on glory. I will have my TV team which is city and I will follow city on the tele. May be try and get an away game trip in Europe Now and then.

however my real fix of football and meeting mates for a beer at the game will now be following altrincham.

I'm not going to slam the club like most,as i believe we were placed in a predicament that very much saw us damned if we do/damned if we don't.

It was also clearly a incredibly hard decision hence us joining the party 'late'.

I think the club has felt it necessary to get on board for footballing reasons, far more than the money/marketing side.

Thats not to say i like it,or agree with it,as i want to see it scrapped asap.

I'm sure more will be revealed very soon, but as for the way its been handled and rolled out........what a fucking circus.

The fact we were put in a position as opposed to part of a structured discussion tells us everything we need to know about how this will play out for us

The more I read the detail in this, the more I agree with some on here. It’s a poorly disguised financial bailout for the elite who’ve been financed by debt and the bubble is going to burst.

This isn’t a negotiation tool with UEFA around new CL deal. That deal won’t eradicate debt overnight and these clubs risk going under.

The banks are calling the shots, getting tied into long term tv revenue streams. This isn’t a bluff.

The same bloke who sits on UEFA's executive commitee, David Gill is another and they all supported FFP.

Basically for clubs like Juventus and United it's all gone wrong and this is the only way back in.
Do we think Gill knew nothing of this? Has he resigned from UEFA?
