Now don't get me wrong - I think UEFA running the CL and Europe leagues is wrong. They should be in charge of governance only.
The euripean club competitions should be run by the ECA. Pribably european international completions too, I would suggest as the clubs pay the player wages.
But this abortion of a Super League should be prevented by any means possible.

Perhaps 10-15 minutes of "sudden death" extra time (maybe with a reduced number of players on the pitch, which is what hockey does on the ice), followed by penalty shootout to determine a victor. Both teams get a point for a FT draw, but the team "winning" the penalty shootout gets an extra point (2 instead of 3 for a FT victory).

Once again, folks -- all of this is the inevitable direction. It's going to be a very different sport with its own unique rules. Like it or lump it.

Seriously though I doubt they'll do away with draws. The fact you can draw a game in a league context is precisely the kind of superficially "unique" thing about football that they would want to preserve. It's the underlying governance and financial structure that they potentially would make more 'American' for want of a better shorthand.

Well, he doesn't really need a source. It's an obvious notion.

Again, as an American who understands the American sporting model and has watched it evolve over five decades, I am highly confident that nearly all of my predictions about what this will eventually look like will be true. I just have no sense of the timing.

L.9. Except with the prior written approval of the Board, during the Season a Club shall not enter or play its senior men’s first team in any competition other than:
L.9.1. the UEFA Champions League;
L.9.2. the UEFA Europa League;
L.9.3. the F.A. Cup;
L.9.4. the F.A. Community Shield;
L.9.5. the Football League Cup; or
L.9.6. competitions sanctioned by the County Association of which it is a member.
 
manchester city have to be part of any new super league and makes no sense in not signing up
football and european football needs a revamp and if city are not involved it will still happen. at lease this way we get a vote and a say on the board and any rules have to be voted

manchester city had to change to keep up ? there was no way manchester city was winning a single thing other than promotion and relegation. its was that simple and its the same thing with signing up to the super league

i don't understand why all the moaning is about. from what i heard and seen its a reforming of the champions league and not the premier league ? ok the league cup will be lost to the super league teams. but in farness its one of the lowest competition and they all ready play weaken teams in it

MANCHESTER CITY ARE A BIG CLUB and thank god we are in a place to be seen as a big club and can take on the big boys and beat them
 
Let's be honest we saw this on the horizon, it was going to happen and it has happened.

We are seeing players wanting 500k a week contracts we have clustered together groups of clubs from across the world into some brand that IMO is nothing to do with football, the further down the Rabbit hole we go we lose sight of why we turned up to watch City snuggling a mug of bovril and a scabby pie to watch the blues even if we were shit.

We've got the arbiters of truth speaking for us out of the sides of their mouths namely UEFA FIFA the FA the Premier League and every pundit who took the coin from their paymasters to denigrate what we did and were doing, not one of those outlets speak for us, they speak for themselves as they see their gravy train chugging off to the sunset.

What can we expect when every thing we win is tainted by the history clubs and their mouthpieces, I expect nothing and I want nothing in fact all that's happened is a foregone conclusion, the result of an upward spiral changing football into what is a hotbed of greed and filth.

If we don't pull out of this, I am done, it's over and I want nothing to do with it any more, has anyone got a spare fishing rod for sale? it's time I looked at a new hobby.
