From Bloomberg:
“UEFA are in discussions with Centricus Asset Management over a €6B($7.2B) financing package to overhaul its flagship soccer tournament and stop plans for a new breakaway Super League, according to people familiar with the matter”.
So now UEFA are going to make their tournament even shitter for football than the ESL is. It’s a fucking shit-off

What I will say is this, football needs a massive fucking shake up. It's been going in the wrong direction for years, anti competitive etc. I would be happier if the Premier League just introduced a flat spending cap on all teams and it trickled down into all EFL teams. Thats the only fair way of doing things now and in the future.

This idiotic move by the big clubs might actually be a catalyst for good proper change, instead of the status quo.
I have been in favor of that from the get go.

I grew up having to watch Rag Title procession formality year in,year out for well over a decade.God it was boring, season being all but over by Christmas most years.

No one could touch them financially, they bought all the best players. And that was that.Everyone else had to deal with it.

Their fans had no problem with all that anti-competitive bull shit, they lapped it all up,loved it.

Then along came more money Chelsea, and the Rags didn't like that. They thought that was cheating "buying Titles" Chelsea money was not earned like their morally, ethically clean money.

Their logic was our money was earned through sponsorship etc,Chelsea is a Sugar daddy, this is terrible for the game, financial doping.Fucking unbelievable logic.

Then along came others like our owners.

Then the Rags,Chelsea,Arsenal,Liverpool, that all had recent bankrolled success, all had a problem with erghhhhhh bank rolled success.Chelsea owner Abramovich a Russian Oligarch, suddenly didn't like the competition.Became a big advocate of FFP.After bankrolling Chelsea he wanted to shut the door on competition like ours.

For years we have needed a much fairer system in place, that Caps what every team can spend. Not only would it make the League more competitive, and enjoyable for neutrals. It would force teams to invest more in youth, become more organic, home grown, surely that is a good thing.

We all know though, they dont really want fair competition. They want an anti-competitive cartel. And that is where the game is at now.

I dont have much time for UEFA,they tried to kill us,lay our lifeless Body on an Alter for these fuckers. They tried to appease the Beast. In the end the Beast grew to big and consumed UEFA.

They could make it into a league format, playing each team twice, so 38 games. That's where it is ultimately heading IMO.
Yep, pretty sure the current proposals would be the thin end of the wedge. Probably end up with a couple of super league divisions, add a few more big European clubs, a few South American clubs, MLS clubs etc. Have a truly global franchise, match schedules so that there is a Super League match on every day of the week. That's what I'd ultimately expect if this does get off the ground. Assuming the 6 clubs don't get kicked out of the Prem, I'm pretty sure they'd be leaving of their own volition at some point once the new league is established and successful globally.

It would have made it slightly more palatable if there had been some club specific comments from Khaldoon on the statement last night, instead of hiding behind quotes from Perez and Glazier. Shows who the drivers of this are. Think we are just along for the ride for fear of missing out, but that possibly makes it worse for me.

I've got no interest in playing the same European teams week in, week out, year in year out without any kind of jeopardy. It's basically glorified friendlies. We will be kicking off at 11am on a weds morning or something to satisfy far east prime time audiences.

I absolutely love English football. Its unique. The pyramid structure, the competition, the crazy stories of Wimbledon, Leicester, our fall and rise, absolutely despising United for ruining my Childhood. Its all part of the story and what makes it so great.

The timing is also pathetic. People just starting to look forward to getting back to stadiums and some normality after over a year of heartache and then this. Absolutely disgusting
Exactly! Those years in the 80s of no euro footy were a lot simpler than all this bollocks. Intertoto ? Simod? Auto windshield?what cup is this? Who cares its footy son.

Ha! No it won't. Watching a smaller team last WBA put 3 past Man U will always be better than seeing them compete with Barca. Especially when the newness of watching Barca compete each week wears thin.
It could be worse mate, if this shit goes ahead I wouldn't fancy being a Spuds or Arse fan. It would be brutal and would only get worse over a few years..... ho ho fucking ho.

Perez claiming all clubs signed the contracts last Saturday.
Football as we know it is dead.

“The contract of the SL is binding. Nobody can leave, we will work all together. All the clubs signed the contracts last Saturday”.
Sounds like we are screwed don't it.

What a sorry state of affairs.

I hope fans across England never enter their grounds again until these owners are chased out.

Perez doesn't like players going away to play for their countries.

“Football has to change, many things have to change. There are national competitions that people do not know their name. Them using players paid by clubs do not make sense. It all has to change. Football, the way is designed now, can’t continue”

The hysteria around this is over the top.

The top European Leagues and the Champions League are closed shops anyway. They only sell hope to teams outside the cartel but that's all it is, hope.

A Super League was inevitable. The reformatting of the CL in the 90's was the start, then the coefficient and seeding nonsense and then FFP were all nails in the coffin of other clubs.

Chelsea finished 4th in the Premier League and were seeded straight through to the group stage ahead of 42 champions from European Leagues. If people aren't angry about that, then their anger at this is hypocritical.

European football is already a con, this Super League is just removing the pipedreams of other clubs.

It's not the death of football, it's the evolution of it. We don't have to like it but we're fortunate that us as City fans have our club in it.

I was lucky enough to watch football when the money men could buy a couple of years but no more than 4 of domination - we saw the pendulum swing between clubs, lots of different winners of cups and the league. It was a great time - the premier league screwed that up, the champions league made it worse, this will kill it

Hes a complete disgrace to football

Sums up my feelings on this perfectly... it’s been a sad, sad day! Any hope of us backing out with statements on expression from fans etc are all but gone, and even best case scenario, the club is tarnished irrevocably! From what could have been a best ever season has become a farce in the space of a few days. Fucking gutted man.

(timing of it, with no stadium voice, seems planned and gutless! It’s everything that I didn’t think my club; our club, stood for!)
