Compare and contrast the statements from City and Arsenal.

It wasn’t a masterstroke at all
It was embarrassing and hurtful to fans of City

a masterstroke would have been if they’d refused to join and then two days later watch it collapse

still, they saw sense in the end so fair play

Not sure anymore. We were always portrayed as dirty. So we went in and got really dirty equally with everyone else. And were the first to clean up and come out half clean.

It’s still our fault all this, more than all the other 5 clubs involved. Normal service is resumed, just how I like it

Haha spoken as a fan of a popular club in the media who has no worries about PR. You really have absolutely no idea what it’s like to be a Manchester City fan
And you regrettably seem to no longer remember what it was to be outside the elite. We all have our crosses to bear I guess.

The hierarchy of our club thought it was acceptable to sit round the table to discuss the idea of the ESL with the very people who have systematically tried to destroy us over the last few years.

For many fans that's going to leave a very bitter taste in their mouths for a long time.
Friends close, enemies even closer.

They should be ashamed of themselves, the board members who got into bed with the likes of Joel Glazer and Henry should resign. Khaldoon in almost every end of season interview said that the fans were the most important part of the club. We knew it was partly to get favour with us. That’s now gone permanently and no matter what line he tries to take now won’t work.

one thing for sure they’ll be spending fuck all on players especially spurs and Arsenal who have to payback around 150m by end of may! Where’s the money going to come from?
Who knows with Arsenal. Probably sell one of the front three my bets on Aubameyang, but what's he honestly worth these days. Spurs need new players and with the new manager in bound too. But will this be the tipping point for Kane? If we don't get Haaland I can see us landing him.

You know that throwing the name of a well know wank cheapskate owner doesn't validate your arguement as it isn't relevant at all.

I will ask you this, if we had not joined it went ahead and we carried on in a prem minuss the other 5 with less prize money but still both domestic cups and a restyled european cup with.this leadimg to us not havimg the best players and automatically winnimg everything would you still be going to games?

I certainly would have, I wouldn't have gine to the ESL shit though even if we had the best players in the world on offer.

Give me random teams drawn in cups, give me the.threat of relegation only.to be clsaved on the last day (or not) give me a promotion push and rendom europen games.

Don't offer me stale exhibition football against the same boring teams amd entitled fanbases where it doesnt matter where you finish or if you win owt.

The club made an error in judgement and there is nothing wrong with telling them that, as grateful as I am for the last 12 years, no owner is beyond criticism.
I completely agree - I've been going to matches for just short of 30 years... the point I am trying to make (probably quite badly lol) is that even if YOU are happy with that scenario our owners certainly are not... they don't want to be the "best of the rest" they 100% want to be the "best of the best" and I'm not sure I would want them to change in that mindset?

The Mike Ashley comment is 100% valid though - in business (and like it or not football is now a business) you either strive to be the best and crush your competion or you tread water and can't be arsed... there is no middle ground.

I for one cannot forget the amazing things out owners have done for this club - for the record I really didn't want the ESL and I'm buzzing we're out of it and it looks like the crazy idea is dead... but some posters have gone full on toxic in bashing our owners and I'm sorry for feeling the need to defend the people that I consider some of the best club owners in world football... you can disagree if you like (it's a forum and I'm fine with that) it's just the lack of appreciation for some of the best years I can rememeber as a City fan that irks me.

At the end of the day this will allo blow over (or not) and we can hopefully get back to what matters to us - the football

To be fair, they both say absolutely nothing but the same time everything, contempt.

We were first, and had the balls to get it out there whilst everyone else sat and watched. Arse and Kroenke have far bigger bridges to build than we did.

Still alot to come out yet, it's going to be interesting the back tracking and blame, I hope the media go for the journalistic approach doubt it though, can see the press spinning this in favour of the usuals

I think it is pretty obvious that EUFA are not fit for purpose.

That is at the heart of all of this.
Nah, the heart of it is the cartel clubs which is why AC/Inter Milan were in there. The New UEFA format isn't that far off the ESL (apart from clubs don't get to decide where the money is spent, but they do if the have UEFA board members).
