We all need to remember that the people behind this (in England) were the Rags and Redscouse and that the whole thing was driven by their deep-seated convicted (shared by many of their fans, as a perusal of the websites will demonstrate,) that their 'massive' clubs are effectively subsidising football and that most other clubs (including ours) are mere parasites on their money-generation.

These clubs believe they should always be at an advantage compared to everyone else, irrespective of how good or bad they are on the pitch. The proposed ESL was just a manifestation of this attitude.

The great question now is whether UEFA and the EPL will continue to cater to this attitude or whether they will grow some balls and say, Foxtrot Oscar, from now on all teams will be treated as equals. We shall see.

Genuine question now, we have seen over the last 3 days the outrage from those against this farce of a competition - especially from us the fans

But there is still an elephant in the room and one that should not be allowed to be forgotten or swept aside. And that is the newly reformed champions league format that has an even bigger protectionist element actively within its rules allowing any established g14 club to qualify based on past merit regardless of there league position

This is also an abhorrent regulation that is basically a watered down version of the non-relegation side of the super league

We should move against this reform and force UEFA to remove this element from within european competition
It’s nowhere near as bad as you think.

It’s only on any past five years rolling on each year.

So clubs like Arsenal, and even Liverpool (who’ve spent 7 years outside the Top4 since City were taken over), Inter, Milan, even United who’ve also spent 4 years in the last 9 outside the Top4; are actually hindered by this rule if they keep underperforming!

It will reward clubs like Atalanta and Leicester if they keep doing well. A good five years from both clubs will see them benefit from this at the expense of the old G14.

UEFA have got to take a share of the blame for the Super League Farce. The champions league was created to stop a break away European Super League. What’s caused the problems now is UEFA.

Originally their FFP rules were going to be about debt levels. They backed down as many clubs pointed out they were indeed in huge debt. And it become the profit and loss farce it is now. All the while clubs debts continued to rise. Barca’s is currently an eye watering €1.2 billion Utd still over £400 million.

Imagine if it had of been the original idea. Barca don’t win it under Pep as they are banned Utd don’t face Chelsea in Moscow. Liverpool don’t win number 6 (at the time debt was over £100 million) Real don’t win any of the last 5 or 6 they did. Point is UEFA allowed this mess and that’s why a super league gained traction the wall is literally coming for many clubs. Yet an owner investing his money so the club is debt free is seen as wrong under current rules! Changes are needed and we are better off doing it from within!
