The point is we didn't lose the Derby on purpose. We didn't throw it, we just lost a game of football. Things don't always go to plan unfortunately.
Yeah it's complicated and I wish more people realised it. We played a strong enough team to beat United, but conceding an early penalty against a counterattacking team was always going to work against us. It happens.
We played close to our strongest side yesterday and despite playing really well it took until the last 10 minutes for us to score, and that was from a set-piece. It happens.
We played a weaker side away at Leicester and absolutely dominated, so I can understand why Pep thinks it's a viable strategy. Leeds really was one of those statistical anomalies that just worked against us. It happens.
There's not been a single game Pep has sent out a team to lose. They might be weaker sides, but by no means are they weak sides. I often think, if hypothetically we had an injury crisis and Pep put out the best team available consisting of:
Steffen, Cancelo, Dias, Aké, Mendy, Fernandinho, Gundogan, Bernardo, Sterling, Jesus, Aguero
Would people really think that this was a bad side that would lose every week like is often made out to be?
