Awesome performance, his athleticism is unrivalled in the position. My MOTM.

I still believe we play better football with Cancelo and Zinc though.
I agree that we play better total Football with those two but feel Walker is an extremely valuable player in the starting 11 when going up against a team with an extremely dangerous and rapid counter threat.

My man of the match. An absolutely brilliant performance, kept Mbappe and Neymar quiet and carried the fight forwards in the second half. His pace, aggression and his physical and mental strength is vital in games like last night’s.
Like everyone he has his faults but that was a performance of real on-field leadership and personality. As others have said, would love to find a left footed version of him.

Acquired him for my Football Manager 2007 Oldham Athletic team which eventually won the CL. Knew he would be good :)

Edit: Come to think about it that team had Rodwell and Phil the Face as key players as well so maybe not much to go by.

Always has the bottle for the big occasion. A real integral part of the team for both footballing and mentality reasons.

I absolutely loved it in the second half when "fastest player in the world" MBappe picked up a loose ball and got running our defence. Kyle gave him five yards and still caught him, robbed him, turned and released. There are different kids of quick, of course, but over 10-50 yards there can't be many faster in the world.

He will be a legend soon in the same way that Zaba became one over time rather an instantly.

It’s mad how he’s managed to maintain his pace despite being in his 30’s.

Alongside great genetics, he’s got pace, power, great running technique, very good core...If he played a different position and had the technique or football brain of Foden/KDB, he’d be a monstrous player.

Nonetheless, I like what he brings to the team in his current position. Against top class fast wingers, he usually comes out on top.

My MOTM yesterday had a superb game. Not according to the crackpot doing the Lequipe ratings though. 4/10 for Walker. 5/10 for Stones, Gundogan and Rodri aswell. Weird newspaper.

Their ratings are always super strict. A 7/10 is like a 9/10 elsewhere. Walker getting a 4 is odd though.

A brilliant article

About time , his brilliance is recognized at the age of 30 !

The top comment underneath is from a City fan disputing the article and pointing out how Walker is not actually that great.

Classic.

I think his ball control when compared to the rest of the squad and lack of using his left foot makes it seem like he lacks technicality. But his passing goes under the radar, it’s a strength very few will mention. He pings balls diagonally like Xabi and doesn’t make passing mistakes in our build up.

That's one of the worst things I've ever read. Hard to believe any City fan actually wrote it.

The 1st 10 mins he had me really worried. The last 35 minutes of the 1st half he was good. 2nd half he was incredible.

Started wobbly when Verratti took it off him like Goater took it off Neville and crossed it which led to Zin shoulder ball. Was getting overan abit but grew into the game(nerves settled) and was as good as he was in the first game.
