Jack Grealish

the last point I’ll make is that you saying it’s a lie that we have been playing better without a striker is nonsense in my opinion
I want to be clear. The times in which we have played with a striker or two strikers since, what?, November?, have not been worse than when we play without them. I doubt anyone can show me an example of when we played one or two strikers and the quality of the game was affected because of that, or even the possession. What you seem to be understanding from me is that I am arguing we have not played better this season than the last one. That of course isn’t the case; I absolutely agree this has been a much better season than the last one. It just has nothing to do with the games in which we play no strikers

Hence me asking if you’re English. If you’re not, fair enough. If you are, you’re an arrogant ****, in the nicest possible way of course ;)

I am not. I‘m from Brazil. And I’ll take both the question and that dig as a compliment. See you around

There is plenty of room, irrespective of the consideration that he's better than a couple of our current players.
It may well be debateable whether he's better than we have. I can't see the argument that we have room without at least 1 player leaving.

Depends in what way you mean he’s not better than Bernado. As a central midfielder with a job of grafting and keeping the ball ticking over he probably isn’t. In terms of getting on the ball in wide and advanced areas and commuting defenders he certainly is. If signed he’d probably play as part of the front 3 most of the time so Bernado’s place wouldn’t be the one under threat

Teams are always parking the bus

I suspect the outcome of Leeds,Chelsea and the first half of Saturday would have been much different with a player of his quality available.
And Clearly we will only sign him if Pep feels that room exists.

As a Brazilian, you’re English is fantastic mate. Better than some of our English posters ;)

Now I know you’re Brazilian, I think one or 2 of your comments are lost in translation & not arrogant at all.

What coverage do City & Pep receive in Brazil? Is it generally positive?

If I were Grealish, I'd feel extremely let down if I felt City were lying to him to such an extent.
Seems like Grealish's party have let everyone and their dog know he's going to City, well apart from the world's media who don't seem to be giving one of the biggest nailed on transfers of the summer any column space at all.
Think there's a lot of smoke and mirrors going on here as well as his ability being magnified by about 200%.

That's not strictly true. The original story appeared in the Daily Mail and was a steer off the record. I was also steered by someone at United that City were now at the table.

Even before that, Nedum Onuoha got wind of the deal at City.

Someone I do trust suggests a player would need to move out first.

I guess more positive than in England for City and Pep is a god here (the media fantasizes about the day he will coach our national team). But a lot of the cliches about City are taken straight from the English media. Some of the supporters (myself included) constantly fight the bias — and we have been winning.
However, it’s been awful is these days when we have been fighting PSG, as Neymar is a media darling. And there is an antipathy about Jesus being benched

You can certainly take your timeline from that if you wish Ray, and you might also accept the possibility people very close to the player have plenty of cause for optimism a deal is already in place?
I would be more comfortable with the deal if he had finished the season at Villa as strongly as possible and injury free.

Possibly, but I don't think anybody should be in any doubt how much Pep and Txiki rate this guy?

I think the truth lies somewhere in between. Grealish has his heart set on City but do we actually push the button?

I agree on that. Whether City pushes the button is depedant on how serious Grealish's injury is.

100% my vibe too. I know Pep loves him, and I know that the club love him as a player. But there's loads of players who they will love but they won't have room for unless something dramatic or unexpected happens in terms of outgoings.
