Its not beyond the realms of possibility that Stones reverts to making errors once the crowds and pressure returns. Obviously we pray this will not be the case.

He also signed before Dias, so could have easily thought hed be partnering Laporte if he had a good season.

I don’t believe the story though. Its injury reducing his games this season and others playing well so not allowing an easy path back in.

Both Ake and Laporte are left footers so I’d presumed that he was brought in to rotate with Laporte and Diaz brought in to rotate with Stones, but the emergence of the very effective Diaz & Stones partnership blew that notion away.
However, it’s not unusual (as Tom Jones often sang) for players new to us to get not a lot of game time in their first season here (think Cancelo last season, Torres this season etc.) so I do think Ake will get more game time next season.

Let's be honest. If Dias, Stones and Laporte stay injury free. I find it unlikely that he will get enough game time to stay happy.

Stones and Laporte have been injured quite a lot in recent years. Which is one of the reasons we signed Ake. So we'll see.

I like that there's been no news recently. Shows that the club are focused completely on the UCL and all further proceedings in transfers (Grealish and Haaland) and subsequent briefings will happen after.

Re Ake. He will have to press from the start next year. It’s what players have to do when they have been injured for a long time. In the meantime he can console himself with his Lge Cup, Prem Lge and hopefully Chumps Lge medals and participate in football tactically light years ahead of most other teams. Where else could he have gone to enjoy that? He is well rested for the Euros. All in a good year in his career methinks.

Sounds like he wants consistent first team football.

Then again,it may be bollocks and he is made up to be playing a part for the Champions.

Meh. He knew he was back up when he signed. That’s his level, decent but far from a world beater. Can hardly complain now, especially when he has been injured for more than half the season anyway

He needs to sort his own fitness issues out before worrying about a first team place, he has hardly been fit all season, get your head down and work hard, places at this club are not given out for fun, that's why we are multiple title winners.

Hey Kay. Bit picky that. Couple of years back Bendy Mandy played 20 odd times and has still collected six trophies - back-to-back Premier Leagues, two Carabao Cups, the Community Shield and the World Cup despite playing just 40 minutes in Russia. it’s a squad thing isn’t it?

He has earned his status , he didnt seem keen to get a cup medal so i dont know how he feels about the others if he gets one
