Slow play is a real problem in the game . My mate played on Saturday 4.5 he round . One bloke 2 holes infront of him had a handicap of 43 !!!! Wtf . When I was a member 28 was max

I play with my cousin quite often and a good round for him is sub 110. Part of the issue is he’s too self conscious of slowing pace of play down and so rushes his shots and his decision making, which has the knock on impact of slowing play down even more than if he just took his time a bit.

Thing with players like that though, they tend to be good at letting others play through when they really are slowing down play and I don’t mind the rounds taking longer if we aren’t holding anyone up.

It’s the mid handicappers that go around in the same four ball at the same time every week with a sense of entitlement that everyone else behind them slows down to their speed that annoys me.

With the handicaps though, I do think there needs to be a limit for comps. Stableford will hugely favour those that are high handicaps but beginning to play regularly as they can have a much bigger swing score wise each round.

As a City fan all my life and played and watched golf all my life, today has been too emotional.
Jack’s win in 86 was impressive as was Tiger’s last Masters but this tops them all. 50 year-old 150-1 shot wins at the longest golf course with the deepest of any major fields in unbelievably tough conditions. Well done Phil!

Unlike the huge majority of US Tour pros, Phil doesn't come across as too much of a 2@. Very happy for the fella.

Couldn’t take my eyes off it last night, the red wine was flowing and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Top bloke is Phil.

Clubs and golfers use to complain about slow play. Letting twats on 54 h/c play in a competition can only lead to glacier like rounds. It will be the death of amateur competitive golf.

A guy the other week finished second with a net 62, must of been close to winning it one would think. Err no the winner got a net 37 off a 54 handicap. Absolute joke.

If someone is a genuine 54 handicap they should take up dominoes.

Phil's play off the tee won him the PGA. I've never seen him hit it so straight, he'll be a big contender in next months US Open where the rough is usually horrific.
