Why, does he miss a chunk of the tail end of the season every season?
If we are to sign him this season then yes finish the season as strongly as possible for his club. Going off this thread this potential signing has been 7 years (and two managers) in the making.

So will he eclipse Lee Clark?

You are being facetious but no. David Bentley and Morten Gamst Pedersen (both aren't bad players if you are thinking that I am knocking both of them) if you are going down that comparison route. I am being as positive that I can be with the Grealish links and potential signing. So I'll leave at that.

Need to sign this boy before the Euros where he'll tear it up and put his price up £50m.

Fantastic player and for anyone unsure of just how good he is, look at Villa's record since he got injured. With games in hand they could have been in the top 4 with him and now they're 10th and if they win their game in hand will still be 10pts off it. That's still not bad for a Villa side that stayed up in the last game of last season, but he really just gets better and better and would step up for the big occasions.

The way we've played this season with the false 9, he's even more of a worthwhile signing. He could rotate through any of the central and wide positions and have an impact. Any drop in performance from De Bruyne, Bernardo, Mahrez, Gundogan or Foden and he's straight in there and I don't think he'd give his place back anytime soon. Bernardo would be the man most under threat because they have a similar close control, workrate and ability on the ball but Grealish has a lot more pace and a better end product. And I fucking love Bernardo before anyone starts!

I’m more excited about signing Greilish than Haaland or Kane, massive fan of this lad, think he will be unreal for us working under Pep

Spot on pal.

Where we differ is i believe our best trio would be Foden,Grealish and Bernardo either in a false 9 situation with KDB involved,or behind Haaland.Rodri and Gundogan can fight out the other slots.

Yesterday showed we actually don’t have that many central midfield options if our first choice three aren’t available for whatever reason
Albeit true, how often is it going to be a problem where 4 of our 5 centre midfield options don't play in a game?

Ferna is off for a start. Then you have Kev’s patchy injury record. Add the regular season wear and tear, the usual fluctuations in form and the normal rotation to leave us needing another one at least

But what if Fernandinho stays? If he goes I'm in agreement over Grealish, but yesterday playing Rodri on his own is not what I'd consider a valid argument in Grealish's favour. There's plenty of other better reasons to sign him.

Plenty of good reasons to sign him, I agree. Yesterday was just a glimpse at where a couple of injuries at the wrong time might leave us with next season.
Kev and Gundo are in their 30s now. Inevitable that will eventually take its toll at some stage if we have another hard season where we go deep in everything next year - especially with the Euros this summer. Add an early start for the Community Shield and also potentially (hopefully) a Club World Cup in December to the mix. We’ll lose Mahrez for up to a month in January for AFCON so Bernardo may have to fill in on the right wing on occasions.
We have plenty of technicians in there, Grealish would add drive, athleticism and legs that we are sometimes lacking

From tolmie: “Grealish has very recently told a friend of his in the Alty area that he thinks City are serious and it can get done at £70m.”

Grealish wouldn't of been any worse than the players that were out playing against Chelsea but he wouldn't of been any better either. £70m is not the worse fee in the world to be fair.
