Covid and travel discussion

2 weeks in Crackpool it is then...

Nothing better than being sat on the Sea wall staring out at the black Sea eating Fish and Chip, fighting of psychotic Sea Guls, and the Kids saying Daddy what is that Man doing with a Syringe in his arm.
There's that many places boarded up,the window cleaner uses a sander.

We've paid a deposit to go to Spain at the end of August but now have no appetite to go and would prefer the deposit back.

The balance of the holiday is due in 10 days.

Any advice?
just go and enjoy the hot sun and cold beer

Get your deposit back.
Relax in the UK. There are some beautiful places.

Our Government in Oz have today informed us that international borders will remain closed for another year.

Our economy is booming. Loads of jobs being created. Loads of building, big projects and housing.
Stock market is up.

Weird times.

The travel agency haven't offered us the money back yet.

I'm going to email them tomorrow and ask for it.

I was meaning more advice on where I stand with Spain being currently on the amber list but the balance being due next week.

There's loads of places in the UK I'd like to go to.

Went to Blackpool last summer for the first time since I was about 13 years old - I'm now 36.

Gotta say I was worried about ruining the great childhood memories I had of the place, and the wife wasn't keen on going either but I have to say it was a fantastic week and everyone came home happy. It helped that we had amazing weather for the days we spent there and although there are areas of the promenade and hotels that are in clear decay none of that mattered to my 6 year old daughter who thought it was brilliant.

If the folks running the place can use the Covid crisis to their advantage and use the increased revenues to reinvest in the town then hopefully they could get some long-term benefits out of it.

Forget the deposit unless Spain goes red.
As far as the law goes if the holiday goes ahead you have no grounds for a refund.

Three consecutive posts.
With no audience.
Ever felt you are howling at the wind?
I post responses on the opposite side of the clock to most people on here, and they were to two different posts/people and a comment.

Read or don’t read, I don’t care. I’m certainly not sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for a pearl from you….as you will see in the next post!

Depends on who/how it was booked (I'm guessing it might be Jet2 going on the timescale?) but you likely won't be offered your deposit back either.

If it's Spain in August then the holiday will, as things stand, due to be going ahead. Whether it will go ahead or not remains to be seen, but it will undoubtedly be a 'live' booking at this moment in time, and tour ops (particularly bucket and spade European) will still want the balance paying as per normal schedule.

If you don't want to pay the balance, but also don't want to lose the deposit, then you're best and likely only outcome will be to amend to a later date.

Rumours that Spain will welcome Brits without the need for a negative PCR test before travel.
Seems to be on the condition our rates remain low.
And would need Spain to be promoted to our 'green' list.

But that could be huge over the next few weeks/months if it materialises.

I've got Majorca booked end of August and would be fantastic not having to cough up for a PCR before we go.

Hopefully so, but we won't be rushing to book if masks are obligatory outside. Greece at the moment are insisting on masks outdoors but not Portugal. We like to walk the prom but a bit difficult with a mask when the sun's high.

Just a little bit confused about these rules, are there any rules in regards to boarding a plane in the UK for example if someone has had two doses of the jab (and they are travelling to a country that accepts vaccination certificate) are they allowed to depart the UK without a negative test? So they will just need a negative before returning to the UK, and a PCR on or before day 2 when they return?
