Booing the Champions League Anthem

What fire? All I've heard is our players and the manager say they don't like it.

No fans booing and yet we've managed to make the final for the first time.

UEFA didn't force us to climb in bed with Kroenke, Henry and Glazer but we did. When we withdrew, they welcomed us back with open arms. Khaldoon has said that we have a good relationship with UEFA and Aleks Ceferin has said some very complimentary things about our club.

It is time to move on.

You're right. I've decide to move on too. I won't be booing the Champions League anthem anymore.

A whistle is much more effective.

fair enough, you can move on, I understand your reasons, they used to be mine. For me though moving on from just last year and uefa/lfc/utd/juve/barca/rm trying to get us banned and punished on spurious charges was the pinnacle of hatred against new money clubs. These are the ESL clubs, the poison in football, and UEFA are run by them. For me booing them is booing corruption in football. It needs calling out not getting into bed with.

Anyway dont worry I think the tide is turning City fans are starting to like and respect the CL. The club is changing

btw do you really think we'll lose the final if we boo the UEFA anthem at the beginning ?

The people who sought to get us banned through their influence within UEFA are the people with whom we jumped into bed over the ESL.

The ESL of which we hoped to be a part.

I have no idea whether or not booing has a counter-productive effect on the team but I'd rather not take that chance. I don't think it positively impacts the team, put it that way.
 
Shrewd, this thread started over 5 years ago with the post “let’s stop the booing now” and we are still doing it! I know circumstances have changed and I for one love the idea of getting to the CL final and still doing it, even better if it is played after us winning it!

This is where the disconnect is between the fans and the players/management. I'm not knocking the guys, they seem a really good group and no real twats. They say they grew up listening the the 'anthem (jingle)' and some know the words fgs. But, if we were banned for 2 years or more, a lot would be off. We have been here longer and do take it personally. Even Joe and Joleon, in the last few days have got the list of trophies/history wrong and I don't think anything worse of them - they just can't appreciate it like we do.
I'm bored with the booing - but god help them if or when they try more shit.

yeah like all referees are honest and aren’t influenced by outside influences or have in built bias? Not like we have ever been fucked over by referees is it! I have an opinion and you have yours so no need to get on your high horse.
 
When we win,,I will hum that tune every morning until I die..not out of any love for Uefa, but because we are the greatest team in all the world who Uefa despise..so,my old man is 94 ,I am 60, so maybe 34 more years of humming that tune..Stoke Cup final was my greatest day..when we win the CL that will be bloody close. Have started practising and the mrs is going nuts !!!

Sorry If I didn’t make any sense Dobsy, players in inverted commas because I was quoting you. Not saying you are wrong but I’d be very surprised if booing the anthem had a detrimental effect on anyone’s performance on the pitch.. They would surely know why we are booing...
Hopefully they agree, hence the solidarity quote..
I never miss an opportunity to quote Python, or to use the word quote as much as possible ..;)
 
It's a NO from me for the final.
The past is the past - although I like the thought of a Poznan return during the "anthem" (I thought an anthem represented a country personally)
 
Uefa had a simple choice, 12,000 fans at Wembley and virtually no pigs at the trough or 17,000 pigs gorging on a freebie in Portugal and virtually no fans.
And people still don't understand why we boo a jingle.

This was said before UEFA put plan in place to move final to Porto......we all know the FA, Prem League, UEFA, FIFA dont really give a fuck about fans. They speak the words but their actions tell the truth.

I will not boo the anthem as cancelled my CL Cup scheme for next season, had enough now.
