exactly this just given a 30 year old who’s been injured 4/5 seasons he’s been here a 350k week 4 year deal and people don’t want Kane lol lol

There’s a big difference between giving de bruyne a new contract which saves us amortisation costs and also doesn’t involve any outlay versus signing another player on a huge fee.
He’s not worth the money including the English tax for his age.
It’s 3 years too late.
 
I’ve always wanted Haaland so much more than Kane but have been of the opinion it’s one or the other.

I don’t particularly like Kane, I think he’s a shithouse but he’s also a very, very good striker who would be guaranteed goals.

I was anti-Bellamy when he signed and within 15mins of his debut I’d completely changed my mind. But with all due respect to Bellamy, we’re talking about one of the best centre forwards in Europe.

It’s a yes from me.
 
Part ex deals never happen for massive players.

But IF the only way to sign him was to send someone their way, there's a very short list of candidates.

Anyone suggesting Sterling can dream on, no way they can afford his wages, nor would he want to go there.

Ake? Only been here 5 minutes and still has a lot to offer. But Spurs have been linked before and they are in desperate need of a good centre back. I could see us selling Ake to Spurs for a small loss as part of a deal for Kane, if Ake wanted it.

Jesus is the only other option, as someone who seems firmly second choice and isn't on wages that Spurs can't afford. He'd also be the best replacement for Kane they could possibly get. Downside is, they would massively undervalue him. Also, I'd hate to see him succeed (as he undoubtedly would) at another English club.

I think the most likely scenario is a large fee, say 100m, plus add-ons. 5m every time we win the league and he plays a certain amount of games. 10m every time we win the champions league. If he scores the goals I expect he would, they'd end up with something not too far off the 150m quoted and we'd be happy to oblige.

He'll score goals when he's fit. He will be injured a lot.


I can't see why you'd buy him over Haaland for similar money. One is going to be 28 when he gets here and has a clear recurring ankle injury that's going to get worse, the other is 20 outscores him already.


It seems like everyone who's advocating we sign Kane is pretending he exists in a vacuum where it's Kane or no one.

The only real comparable striker there is to Kane at the moment is Lewandowski and he made his move to Bayern just before he hit 27, Kane with our players behind him becomes the undisputed best striker in the world.

I don’t think Peps ever had Aguero at his absolute peak. Prior to last season Aguero had maintained his numbers at in & around the 30 goal a season mark under Pep but I think that his slow decline started around the time Pep came. He was obviously still brilliant for a few years, but not quite what he was 2011-2016, probably because of ongoing niggly injuries. Imo peak Aguero would get 40 a season in a Guardiola team.

Lewandowski was 25 when he joined Bayern.

There’s also an argument to say he wouldn’t get ran in to the ground playing for city either.

One thing he won’t get at City is as much game time as he does at Spurs.

I’d take him over Haaland in a heartbeat. He’s a leader who’s guaranteed goals. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets 40+ In a season in this team.

i would be with you on that but for the injuries to his ankles ? everyseason he misses a big part of the season because of getting a knock to them just like aguero ?

haaland is the project you can work with for 10 years. there will always be value in him if we ever sell him after 5 years unlike kane after 4 or 5 years walks away for nothing
