It's more an educated guess my response to you, as I simply don't know what has/hasn't happened at the Haaland end.

I wrote yesterday that the Kane deal is the easiest one to conclude because he wants it and City don't want to be messed around by Dortmund or Haaland.

There is enough to suggest that Kane is in the works and there has been contact going back a while.

I did post Kane interest last summer but when I heard Messi had said he was coming, that seemed to be the end of that.

City have always preferred the less glamorous statement signing, but Haaland appeared to be the one which would break our MO, both on price and global profile.

His people and Dortmund now know we have options and while Kane is one of the very best strikers in world football, his lack of charisma doesn't elevate him above Haaland for a certain fan.
Or is it to push Dortmund to sell? They know we are the only ones who could afford him this year or he goes cheap next year. If Haaland pushes Dortmund more then maybe he gets a move here I know I’d prefer him. Meanwhile United jump in for Kane thinking they are doing one us like Fred, Sanchez etc

Thats my hope but I doubt it.....

I think as a club we know Dortmund will hold out (then again I think Kane has 3 years left on his contract so ther eis no reason why Spurs couldnt do the same- could be wrong however)

Id love to see Haaland push for us and supposedly he wants us but as a club we dont seem aggressive in the transfer marke. I know the theory is that we want players to want to come to us but at times I think we need to push it a bit more (maybe we do but very quietly)

we don't negotiate in public

The club was never agressive in the transfermarkedet when we did buy Ruben Dias, Gundogan, Kdb?

It should be seen as a good sign.

did we acgtuallyhave any real competition for any of those players.....the media were calling KDB a 60m flop before he arrived and I cerntainly dont remember anyone else in for Gundo (who was injured at the time) and Dias

Maybe cos the injury prone 29 yr old is gonna cost the club £91 million in wages on his new 5 year contract maybe

Oh and Kane is playing for free?

If you want to add wages, Kane will be closer to £250m. Still it's just the 7 ankle injuries in the last 5 years, and signing players with a history of injuries like Mendy or Gundogan never bit us before.

When we signed Mr whippy the Rags signed the bundersliga player of the season Mkhitaryan

Look how that panned out and they were treating it as a major coup

KdB’s agent had PSG and Bayern on the phone up until the last minute. It was a big saga

A 60m flop in the sun or mirror, teams don't judge a player by having a flick through the red tops to see if they are any good

To be honest mate. The same media also said, "Yaya who"? And, "Who is David Silva"?
very true....

I was answering a point about competition for signings and how we dont appear overly aggressive in the transfer market )while acknowledging we tend to do things in a very professional way and keep things under wraps)

This wasnt the discussion we were having....

We were talking about whether the club are aggressive enough to try and push through a transfer against other clubs and in particular when the selling club is potentially blocking the sale (like Dortmund may well do with Haaland). The other poster mentioned that we got KDB ,Gundo and Dias - my point was that there wasnt much competition for any of those player s(though someone said there was for KDB which maybe right) - ther other two I dont remember any potential barriers with either the selling club or other clubs wanting them (Gundo was injured and Dias I dont think had any other offers from the prem at the time)

We’re gonna start finding out some truths in the night of May 29th or May 30th at the latest

I think there will be a real push to get deals completed before the Euro's start, I can see a lot of deals being announced early especially given some clubs will be desperate for money.
