Champions League Final | Post-Match Thread

It was a pathetic performance against a very average Chelsea side. If Peo isn't responsible for that I don't know who is.

Zin should have stuck to his man but Walker and Stones weren't even in their own half. Dias got pulled out of position as did Zinchenko.
Don’t often agree with Sam Lee but very true: That was a horror show, from selection to performances. But put the players in situations they're not so comfortable in and what do you expect?

Sorry there is more to it than that, the defence had no simple out ball which meant they got caught a few times early on and made the edgy. No holding player meant the defenders had to look for a midfielder, something they don’t normally need to do. Defence looked on edge all night. How we have gone 3 years without a descent left back is beyond me as well
But it’s the same left back who put in an absolute monster performance vs PSG and rightly so got all the praise in the world

We are the best team in England and Pep has brought us so much success. Those who think Tuchel has his number need not worry, he will be sacked by Chelsea by December anyways. Anyways blues, we have had a wonderful season and it was Pep who turned the season around after slow start.

Good night everyone and chins up. We will win this Competition one day.
So what if Chelsea sack Tommy, they do that to all their managers but guess what, it seems to work for them.

They have 2 Europeans Cups on the mantle piece, we don't

If you're not happy with 3 Premier League titles in the last 4 years then I don't think any manager on the planet is going to get your seal of approval Marvin. Ever.

And that's the problem here, we've got a bunch of entitled "fans" who have suddenly raised the bar of acceptability to "never losing a match"

The league isn't enough for them, so let them be reminded how fucking hard it was for city to win it before Pep came along.

As soon as the team sheet was posted my heart sank as did everyone in our house watching. Pep is a great manager but this team selection and tactics was a disaster waiting to happen and it did. Some very poor performances from most of our team tonight. Probably our best chance of winning this trophy went down the pan. Think Sterling and Jesus have had their day and I thought we were robbed of that penalty for hand ball.

We need a way of unpicking 523s.

The middle is clogged, so you have to go wide. If their wide defenders have better games, you struggle. Chelsea under Tuchel. Lyon last year. Several other games which we've managed to win after a struggle.

You need two fast, non-inverted wingers hugging the touchline to stretch them, a proper centre forward occupying the centre halves, and an athletic DM to help cover you on their breaks

he had his two defensive wobbles early on and that is when the alarm bells started ringing! They weren’t heeded and the game should’ve been over by half-time.
our defence is still not right and if it is exposed, like when you have no protection in front, it collapses like a house of cards.
Stones and Walker have their wobbles. Diaz is not quick and gets exposed by the high line. Zinny is an honest player, but not a LB. How much have we spent on that defence!?
Chelsea were solid as they played 5 at the back and 2 DM. We played 4 at the back with 6 forward thinking players. And from the look if it, 2 of that 4 were told to push up. So that would leave is looking a bit exposed at the back.

Pep might be a genius of a coach but he's a flawed genius
No offence Marvin, as you're generally an OK poster if not massively pessimistic, but tonight you've said you've had enough of Pep and that he needs to go as if not winning the Champions League is the be all and end all.
The Champions League is an utter pile of over hyped, cheaty, divey shite and if you don't recognise that this is the best football you will ever see then you are in for some of the most serious decades of disappointment you will ever see.

Martinez saying 100% red for rudiger challenge. Just saw replay and how on earth did VAR not get involved there. Dirty challenge. .
Yes, have to agree, deliberate fould rather than accidental, and while he probably didn't intend to injure him you can say the same about a high kick. Red for me all night long, but we didn't seem to get many decisions go our way.

Right. Their wide defenders pinned Sterling and Mahrez in and gave them no room to either cut inside nor burst down the line. Their backs were to goal the whole game. They were hold-up players with no room nor options. And the middle doesn't need to be clogged when you have Kante. The three CBs sit in deep and Kante does the dirty work in front of them. Those wide defenders have off days and Kante has to come out to help and that middle opens up. Credit to James especially -- he locked us down all night.
