Champions League Final | Post-Match Thread

So, having spunked £700 on a match ticket, I made my way to the Chelsea end to take my seat with the great, the good and not-so-good elite, players families, etc.

Pre-match p*ss was a necessity.

Stumbling over toddlers wasn't part of the game plan as I headed into the gents.

As I commenced my much needed relief, I said to the bloke to my right "How the hell do 4 year olds amass 23000 points?"

He replied "they're my Grandkids. KdB is my son-in-law. He married my daughter"

Well and truly owned.

Maybe it’s time they had a word with him. He’s allowed to tinker because ultimately losing these finals doesn’t matter for him cos he’ll have next year and another hundred million quid to fuck it up again. I’m not saying sack him but our European record is fucking appalling

yeah especially against a team who play like Chelsea if it was a PSG or a Madrid peps way is fine. Funny though last ten minutes pep through his philosophy in the bin with hoof ball unless it was the players who thought fcuk it get it in the box..

Cancelo had a brilliant 3/4 of a season but has tailed off. The same with rodri.
So for sterling to start was criminal in my opinion. Does he have a clause in his contract that he must start these types of games ?
That can be the only reason why he has started
 
Christ I cannot shake this rotten feeling. Not helped by a steady flow of chav arseholes winding me up. It’s been a great, great season but I just cannot feel it right now. The delight and glow of the post Everton match evaporated. And no next game to flush it all out. Seeing the scenes of Chelsea running around with the trophy hurts. Not sure what else to say other than we go again next season. CTID.

After all the effort to get there and the performances on the way, for the campaign to end in such a limp performance is very odd. It’s as though individually and collectively, from players to management they weren’t able to cope with the occasion.

There’s a reason why very few teams win their first CL final.

A very good summary. After 10 mins, I feared losing.
On a tactical note, when the bus is parked, you must try to get to the bye line and cut it back. Our balls into the box were meat and drink to them, even the few accurate ones.
We are still champions of England.
Back next year for yet another go. We will win it one day, we will, we will.

Found myself saying that because Sterling was playing it meant that Foden wasn't on the wing like he has been, which meant KDB wasn't in his normal position, which meant that Gundogan wasnt in his normal position, which meant that Bernie wasnt in his normal position.
I now feel even more pisssed of after realising that lol

This isnt knocking Sterling by the way just pointing out how it changed our best 11 in my eyes

Standout players for Chelsea:

Reece had Sterling in his pocket all night
Chilwell was all over Mahrez like glue
Kante played like a man possessed

their midfield pretty much man marked KDB and Foden out of the game.

Even if Fernandinho or Rodri would have started Chelsea would still have stuck to their game plan of killing out attacking play
and If we don’t have an attacking threat we look vulnerable.

Im not so sure one player would have made a huge difference last night.

I’d have started Aguero up front. No one would have been more fired up.

But in the semi final we played an almost total second string lineup. Starters included Mendy, Torres, Steffan, Laporte, Jesus, etc. The semi final in the FA cup wasn’t our usual first choice team either or shape either.

Sapped all their belief and mine in one fell swoop. Was feeling so tense till I heard the line up. That tension just evaporated as I realised we'd just thrown the CL final

Felt nervous all week and then saw the team line up and all them nerves just went followed by dread and disappointment
