what they have to say in situations like this - highly successful ones who have won multiple trophies and titles.
Pep has won 26 titles, I think the joint 4th most ever but he should listen to other managers?

Gundogan has had successful extended spells at City since he came from Dortmund where he also played DM.
So Pep is 'egotistical' to select him?

You know what I can understand people being unhappy we lost. We are all unhappy. But to invent a fucking narrative that the best manager we have ever had is egotistical because he picks one world class midfielder over another is just fucking unbelievable.

We were not good enough last night full stop. It happens.

I think some of the players will be furious with Pep.
Some of the players need to look at themselves first. Not many left the pitch with their head high. Pep will rightly be furious with a few himself. He is man enough to take the hits I wish I could say the same about a few of our players.

Definitely, some may never get another chance like last night.
That what sickens me when I think about it. Legends like Aguero and Fernardihno won’t very likely get another chance ! add to them the likes of Debruyn, Mahrez and Gundogan. So gutted when I think that Chelsea where there for the taking ! They have recently lost to Villa, a tired Leicester and poor Arsenal with the same line-up !

Some of you need a head wobble. Read what you post before you post it, everyone sounding so entitled, CL final, another PL title in the bag with the best manager ever and some of you calling for his head because he lost ONE game? pathetic!!

Who is calling for his head?

True.

I think Pep will be frustrated because, like the Lyon game, he correctly identified the problem but then came up with the wrong solution to deal with it.

With Lyon, he was 100% right that their pacy counterattacking would cause us problems, but his solution of a completely unfamiliar back three was clearly not the right answer. Against Chelsea, I think again he was right to identify that scoring first would give us a huge advantage against a team designed to sit back, but the solution he implemented only made it MORE likely that we'd get caught out on the counter.

A few of the players may never get the chance to play in another’s champions league final. Yes pep fucked up but they still lost the ball unnecessarily and they still did not make the right decisions when in possession. Instead I watched a group of players bar 1/2 shrink into their shells and look petulant about how the match was going. Some of them despite being good footballers can seem mentally weak.

I would like to see 3/4 changes to the first team. As I have said before not all will make it to legend status. Know the right time to sell a few.

its funny that nobody complained when pep changed to a strikerless lineup in the quarters and semis. Nobody was calling him a tinkermen then

He had time to study the matchup with chelsea and tried some adjustments, if it works he is a genius, if it doesnt, he's shit. If he sticks to the old tactics and loses people would bitch and moan about pep not adjusting. It is what is, back the manager and the team and they will be back in a year or two

Dont agree. Ego go crazy? Settle down mate, he chose Gundogan as DM, a role he has played successfully numerous occasions. Apart from that the other 10 were exactly the team everyone thought should play. Hardy letting his ego go mad and experimenting. I get that folk are sad, I'm gutted we didn't win it but the manager who won the Premier league without a striker, bla bla bla is the same guy that lost last night.

My only criticism of him is he wrongly assumed that playing his A team using the same tactics as deployed in the last two games would be enough to win. He was wrong. Last night was like a rerun of the first two games. Different players, same outcome.
Gundo has never had a good game at DM. We didn’t play our ‘A’ team last night and we didn’t play ‘our’ game last night. It’s ok to attach a portion of blame to pep. He’s got form.

Don’t think the majority would have moaned to be honest. We started playing a false 9 because we don’t have a top class striker(Kun injured mostly and passed his peak). It had been working very well and most were confident that Pep for once wouldn’t dick about with a team that had worked very well in the champs league. Instead he moved 3 big players either out of them or their familiar position to get Sterling on.

We didn’t lose because we were exposed, we lost because we couldn’t find a way through their organised defensive wall and score. Would Rodri or Fernandinho changed that , doubtful. What would ?
maybe rodri or dinho would allow gundogan to make thise late runs from an advanced position in to the box ti score like he has so many times this seaosn. Maybe having foden on the left to attack them and have the ability to put it across quickly with his left foot lie, he has with good effect this season?

The whole evening from the team sheet to the final whistle was a litany of errors from Guardiola. It never occurred to me in the lead up to the game to be concerned about the line up,it was probably his easiest decision of the season. That won’t be lost on the players or the powers that be.

Agree , most of our players didnt get anywhere near their usual form , we can carry a couple of players having a bad day but when eight or nine of them play bobbins we are knackered.

That’s not how football works though is it? None of those teams has a slow methodical build up, no central striking presence, a high defensive line, a dearth of pace on an individual level, or any of the other attributes (or lack thereof) that suit Chelsea to play against. Our MO is too much for the huge majority of teams, but Chelsea aren’t one of them. Their insane high energy press and lightning forwards thrive on the space in behind us. Same goes for United. It’s why Solskjaer picks James, Rashford, Martial and Greenwood every time they come to the Etihad. We’ll win the league frequently, but if we want to win the CL, then, occasional brain farts from Pep notwithstanding, we might need one or two signings (and especially a top striker) to give us a wider spread of tactical options.

part fo the frustration is his stubbornness to refuse to change it. Ok, he went with a different lineup, he had his reasons lets give him the benefit.
After 20 minutes it was clear it was a shit show and we should really have been 2 down. Surely he’ll see it isnt working and change it at ht. Dont forget we have 5 subs in CL. Nope no change. What was he expecting to be different?

The players should be grateful for what they have, the medals and opportunities ,if they don’t like his selections tough shit what won’t be and isn’t lost on the powers that be is they have the best possible man for the job and they will be doing whatever it takes to keep him as long as they possibly can because they aren’t fools, and they realise how difficult it will be to replace him.
