+ A Chelsea fan asked to join me and my mate sat outside a bar, I laughed and said yes as long as he didnt do what 4 Chelsea fans had done (told him the story seen on here where they buggered off without paying) 3 beers later he said he had to be going and went to the toilet. Shortly after we tried to get the bill but couldn't. It turned out this lad had paid for all of us !!!!

+ Found a 'back street' bar, talked to the owner and his wife and had a couple of beers each. I paid and set off up the hill. Minutes later I heard her shouting us and looked round to see her running up the hill. She was knackered. I had dropped 5 euros and she wanted to return it !!!! No way could I take it off her so I told her to buy her daughter some sweets.

Did anybody try one of the local Porto specialities.. the toastie with steak, bacon, egg, cheese and the spicy sauce? Can't recall the name of it but it began with an F

Had one in the square by the town hall and boy was it good...

Sandwich, big platter of chips, free small beer and a free espresso... 10.50 Euro

I'm going back there for another one day.....

Ergh yes, I did and I am ashamed to say I couldnt finish it, I am ashamed as the waiter pointed to 3 ladies on the next table who promptly demolished all theirs. You forgot the sausage and no I cant remember what it was called and couldnt pronounce it/spell it if I did.

Oh but in my defence I'd had a starter of potato wedges, the women didn't :-)

A beast of a sandwich. Proper tasty and will fill you up all day.

Didn't have one this time around but did when we played them in 2012.

It's weird, really. I know the beloved media would have you believe otherwise, but there are actually some half decent football fans out there. Even among Chelsea fans!


Maybe not in Trafford or Merseyside though, eh?

Meeting the lad who sorted my ticket out. Only for him to tell me that he posts on Bluemoon, and that we spent years going at it like cats and dogs. Hahaha. Lovely stuff.

Won’t be long before we have another ding dong on here! It’s in our nature :)

Think what this thread shows as others have said, is what a fantastic trip it was, bar the football. Been going since 1978, and it certainty ain't for the glory. The win would have made it all the better, but defeat didn't spoil it. Bloody pain going there instead of Wembley, but reckon if it had been in London, there would have been more trouble from other clubs' firms looking for some easy pickings.

Great trip apart from the obvious. However just took the dog for a walk and the backs of my legs were fucked, did anyone else leave Porto thinking they were owed 5 miles of downhill? Felt like uphill all the way
