He wanted another chance at the big time and moved to us, injuries have not helped but there is no way in my opinion he is going to get in front of Laporte, Dias or Stones.

He could be part of the Kane deal, a move to a big club, regular football and maintain his wages and international spot for Holland, I could understand the attraction of that for him.

I reckon he'll want to give it another year to show what he can do. Laporte making noises, an injury to Stones or Dias and he's in.
 
We need a striker, LB, and a replacement for Dinho.
Mendy needs to go if we can sell him.

So speculatively.

In Kane, Nuno Mendez, Douglas Luiz
Out Mendy, Kun, Dinho.
 
Selling / swapping Ake doesn't make sense. The club buy long term and they knew there was a risk given his injury record recently. I can't think of the last player we bought at that price and flirted after one season. With rotation I think he will get plenty of games and will be used in some interesting set ups.

Probably get to next seasons CL final and start him up front.

Its not exactly like that. After all tottenhem is a selling club. They have to sell one day or the other. They sold, walker, modric, bale but at a reasonable price. I remember with walker they were quoting the prices of some other defenders and sold in a reasonable price to us. Similar with modric and kane and even with berbatov and keane. Yes he milks maximum out of his players ( with selling money or service) but if he doesn't sell right time and right money then spurs next big player will not sign a long term contract.
Plus he has asked kane for final one more year last year. That didn't go well. He will not stand between kane and him winning trophies as he knows spurs aren't going to win trophies any time soon.
