Harry Kane

Couldn’t disagree more. Why take such a risk on a key position, replacing a club legend with someone whose ‘stats are not great’ and backup who isn’t even a striker?

I really hope City don’t piss about this time and just buy what we need, a top class proven goal scorer. Bollocks to ‘sensible fees’, there are none in football for the very top end players. All that would do is see us struggle to finish chances again and yet again some other fuckers win the CL.

Do you really want the scum to get Sancho, Chelsea get Haaland and Spurs keep Kane while we piss around with someone for a ’sensible fee’? Absolutely no from me. What’s the point in all this commercial income, sky tv money, and ambition to win things if we don’t have the balls to just blow rivals away when the right player becomes available?

We‘re not talking about another winger or back up midfielder here, we need to replace our all time greatest goal scorer. And we already frustratingly waste so many good chances that we create.

We have such a great team, it would be pathetic to have its cutting edge blunted by failing to get the very best finisher we can.
Our all time greatest goal scorers fee did not break the bank by any stretch of imagination. So why can’t we do it again and spend wisely on a quality international player allowing City to develop elsewhere, like in players like Kakye and Metinho. In the long term it will help City dominate even more.
I get your post and your point of view is good. So no criticism from me. I’m just looking at it from a slightly different angle.

Good post.

38m or whatever it was 10 years ago was very big money. We’re now at a stage where 60m buys a centre back unproven in a top league or very average English one costs 80m. 100m for someone who will probably go on to become the all time premier league record scorer at just turned 28 is not a ridiculous fee by any stretch.

Completely agree. And so does our board according to what I’ve heard from various in the know people. If we can get Kane for 120m then I recon that’s the going rate for someone as good as him. There will be no sell on fee but there wasn’t for any of our legends. It’s not a problem. We’ve lost 4/5 greats on the last few seasons. To only splash heavily on just one player and STILL be just as good - if not better - would be an amazing achievement (especially with all the outside obstacles we’ve had) by the men in charge

Yes, the luck of beating Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and us 3x. Lol. You don’t accomplish that taking over a team of players you had no hand in picking halfway through a season. The evolution of Chelsea under him isn’t just because they won the UCL. You just have to see how many players started performing much better, how tactically smart (especially defensively) that team turned into and how their attitude was adequate.
I can’t predict a hypothetical world, but the intense way Chelsea played in the final, I think it’s very likely they would have won anyway had Fernandinho or Rodri played instead of Sterling. We played against Chelsea with those players and they performed poorly. Sterling was okay in the final. And it’s best for us to accept that and prepare for the future accordingly.
By the way, where was Tuchel’s “luck” when a normal goal was wrongfully disallowed in the FA Cup final? If that had stood, I’d say they would have one more trophy in their season.
Real Madrid were terrible. The results against us were against a backdrop of us coming off the back of games against tougher opposition in Dortmund and Paris, and we all accept we didn’t show up for the final. He lost against Arsenal, West Brom and Villa.
Just like the first time Chelsea won the Champions League, the stars were aligned.
Again, nobody is saying the German chav is a bad manager, just saying he isn’t the new Messiah you think he is either.

If this is not done before EURO 2020 starts (about next 4-5 days) it will not be done until England will be out and by that time Kane might have scored 4-5 goals in the tournament making sure Levy can build that into the charge for him.

Can’t believe sell on value is still a topic of debate here. We’ve held onto; Kompany, Silva, Aguero, Yaya, Fernandinho, Sterling, KDB etc. through and past (for some) their primes when no doubt huge offers came in.

We keep players who are good unless they’re desperate to leave with no real thinking being taken for their value.
I could not agree more. Sell on value is a preoccupation for the rags with the result that they still have Phil Jones and the like haunting the place years after he was ever likely to make the team, and there are others. The one and only concern at City is winning, individual matches and titles: if they can get Kane (or Haaland) and the club believe he will get them the goals which win us more PL titles, more FA and Carabao cups and a CL title (or more than one!) over the next five years the club will be prepared to spend a great deal on him and not give a thought to resale value. He'll get his statue and be allowed to leave when he chooses.

I keep reading/hearing the stories about Kane ha being a good Euros will inflate the price and I don’t understand it. The world and his wife knows how good a fit Arry is and scoring a handful of goals for England doesn’t make him any better as he scores goals for Spuds and England right now anyway and had been doing so for quite a few years.
Just my tuppence worth ..

There’s no doubt Tuchel has done well but it may be best to see how he manages that group of players over the medium term before lowing too much smoke up his ass. There certainly been a new manager bounce Chelsea but let’s see how they do over a full season. Tuchel has not been a runaway success in all his roles and he’s certainly clashed with a few bigger personalities in the dressing room in the past.

Yes but the media will tell you that ace negotiator and business guru Daniel Levy will exploit every touch of the ball by Harry to extract extra money from the Evil City Empire. Yep its all bullshit but the back pages and Twitter will be full of it.

Add into the possibility of a injury to the lad and it can be turned how can Levy not cash in before the Euros start

Was Aguero there or there about s a British transfer record?

With Dortmund wanting 200m Euros for Haaland according to The Daily Fail, I believe it confirms my fear about the club getting mugged off financially.
Plus it may set a precedent in the future if we spend so much on one player. If we show we won’t go beyond our valuation it will help for future transfers when clubs realise City are not fools and won’t go above a sensible valuation.
That must make Kane 150m upwards. Knowing Levy he will ask for 200m Euros too. I’d pay that for Messi or Ronaldo in their prime but I wouldn’t spend that much on Haaland or Kane.
