That said, people should have a choice of mobile ticket or season card

Of course they should. But some earlier comments seemed to be complaining for the sake of it. I'd prefer a card as we've had since moving ground, but will use my phone happily if they resolve the NFC glitches.
Do we know why the club had opted for e-tickets when they don't offer obvious advantages. Not passing tickets to others won't work if print at home, or cards are also available.

City’s priority should be to make sure as many seats as possible are occupied by giving season ticket holders the choice of either passing their “ticket” to a friend/family or selling back to the club for 1/19th of the price (maybe limited to 5 games and you only get the money if it’s sold on).
