No its not simple because its bullshit.

He played wide right for Monaco, said he likes playing wide right and he played a lot of wide right for City. When KDB was injured he got to play in midfield.

He wasnt handled poorly, hes just not good enough to play ahead of KDB.

Pep went out of his way to find him a role on the pitch this season, he went to bat for him in public after the Conguitos thing and he said he would never want to sell him.

Pep couldn't have done much more for Bernardo.

I think you'd have to be willfully stupid to really thing a player not good enough to start every game in his favourite position is "being handled badly"
Not good enough to play ahead of KDB is that by name or by merit. Bernardo at times deserved to play ahead of Kevin this season.

Citys best form this season come when Kevin was out, Bernardo and Gundo was unbelievable during that period.

Pep would constantly sub Bernardo when others was playing alot worse, was it just easy for Pep to make them moves because Bernardo is a nice guy?

Not playing in his best position, it's actually quite simple isn't it?
What would you say was his best position? Personally 3 titles in 4 years since signing him wouldnt point towards pep making too many errors in managing our players

I thought we were building from a position of strength yet most of the talk recently is of deals potentially being made for Jesus, Bernardo and Laporte.
Of course it could all be pie in the sky nonsense but if there's any truth in the three of them wanting out or being allowed to leave then our incomings need to be something special because we are talking some top notch players being sold here, not a couple of Fringe players.
I trust the club yadda yadda yadda but not sure I like where this window is potentially heading.
The players we have been linked to are not easily attainable by any stretch and it wouldn't shock me to see both Kane and Grealish starting next season at their current clubs.
Go big or go home City.

fucked up we’re not only losing everyone in the squad but also Chelsea are buying everyone we want, and Newcastle are the new “oil” club and can out bid us.

Terrible time to be a blue huh!

No he isn't better than KDB. that isn't a criticism he just isn't not sure any midfielder in Europe is .

Maybe the term 'best position' was the wrong term. Playing Bernardo with freedom is where he shines.

I do think Khaldoon's recent interview about being "canny" and creative in the market is starting to show itself by some of these suggestions players will be moving out.

We want Kane and Grealish, which is more than the cash at hand.

There's no way we would press ahead on these for so long if we didn't have a fair indication from members of our current squad as to who might be open to moving on.

Moreso, in Mendes, we have an agent who knows exactly what each club is after.

True enough.

He was swallowed whole by Chelsea in those games.

He doesn't look half the player he was maybe three years ago.

Maybe I'm mixing him up with Koke, another player who also has a rep better than his talents?

Partey was always the guy in midfield who caught my eye, rather than the other two and Rodri.

Partey has hardly ripped it up at Arsenal when fit.

AM remind me of Nottingham Forest under Clough -a team full of talent who seem lost when they transfer elsewhere and never display the same levels of performance in a different set up. I’d personally steer well clear of AM players - it’s all about the system there.

The club has a great relationship with Mendes by all accounts, and to some extent, he manipulates a large portion of the market.

Wouldn't be surprised if all of the recent reports have a large foundation of truth to them.

But do we care about how he's playing under Simeone, in a system he's publicly criticised, and under a manager he loves but calls too defensive...or do we care about how Pep would use him?

Is it a surprise he is struggling when Simeone has moved him all over the place and chopped and changed formations?

We all know he's got the quality, so does it matter if he's not in form?

As long as we arent paying "on form" prices it shouldn't stop us IMO.

Ultimately if Bernardo wants out then we have to see what is the best deal, with his form in the past two years nobody is putting 60m on the table. Not to be disrespectful to the lad but he is a cog in our machine, any other team he goes to then people are wanting him to win games himself which at the moment he doesn't look like hes going to.

Atletico don't have any money but if they put Saul on the table then that might be the best we get, hes dropped off a bit recently but he is a good player. He plays in an awful system that would make anyone look like a sunday league clogger.

Yeah I agree perhaps he’s suffered in terms of role.
But I don’t think that’s peps fault personally, Bernardo’s has played an invaluable role within our side, maybe it’s not been the most lucrative for him and he’s not been the star man which he could be elsewhere, but as good as he is, he’s not good enough to be that star man at city purely down to the fact that we employ the best midfielder on the planet.
