Are there any timescales for these being ready to distribute in good numbers? Feels like we've been waiting on Novovax for an eternity, sure their trial results were released in January and then heard nothing since.
Some detail of the NHS trial in the link below. They are supposed to update by September. There are independent trials going on too. GSK/Valneva Phase 3. Moderna Phase 1/2.

I have a feeling that the Novovax vaccine they were going to use was not the same as the one that MHRA approved. I am not sure if all these vaccines are up to date tweaks. Some maybe whole virus vaccines e.g. Valneva.

https://www.uhs.nhs.uk/AboutTheTrus...rld-first-Covid-19-vaccine-booster-study.aspx

The media is very quiet on the whole issue of the whole virus vaccines because of course the West, and Russia went down the route of the spike vaccine, and the Chinese largely went down the whole virus route. This is potentially significant because I believe that the whole virus vaccines should not be so much affected by spike mutations hence the Valneva vaccine which is in a separate trial might be a huge bonus.

Not clear to me what these companies have to do to get the vaccines approved. Procedure is supposed to tbe streamlined but not sure what that means.

Much to the frustration of those of us who have had 2 doses of Novavax, there's another delay. Us volunteers here and and in US were told it would be approved by July. Ive now got a vaccination that isnt recognized but have been told I cant get an NHS one.

Novavax has announced that it will not submit its COVID-19 vaccine to regulators in the US, UK and Europe until the third quarter of 2021 at the earliest, following issues with the manufacturing of certain components of the jab.
The way people like you are being treated is beyond shit. The people who took part in vaccine trails did a brave thing, and deserve better than this.

Health advisers such as Van Tam, Whitty and "Dr H" on GMB do not want this to end.
I get they have to give a worse case scenario but every single time there's some good news they smear it with negativity. We cannot live forever in fear of new variants. In the real world, we need to get back to normality ASAP.
I think there is more to this virus now, maybe some of the conspiracy theories were right.
I get your frustration but reading your posts on here....fucking hell mate, you need to just get off this forum, get off social media and the internet and stop reading the news. It's clearly making your mental health worse.

Home stretch?, I'll believe it when I see it.

you do realise...right now... you can go to the beach, go to the pub, go to restaurants, go to the cinema, go to the gym, go play footie, go to the zoo, go swimming... the list is endless.

yet, all you are do is moan on here all day that government and scientists are denying your freedom.

I think the boosters will automatically be updated with latest anti variant tweeks.
There are at least two proposals.

1) Give people a 3rd dose of an existing vaccine.

2) Release variant vaccines as booster.

2nd option certainly sounds better but as to what's involved? Can't be that automatic otherwise we'd be using them now. Current vaccines won't stop transmission.

I'm currently enjoying a curry in Tommyfield Market in Oldham after a lovely pint at the Cob & Coal and half an hour in the Gallery, England's finest provincial museum. Hardly noticed the mask and the sign in.

Life seems fantastically normal. When did Oldham start looking so great though?
You've been for a pint and curry and it's not even midday?! Fair play mate.

I used to live in Oldham, remember there being a top chippy at Tommyfield market.

I dont want to let the trial down (my 19 year old is also on it), but many volunteers now are ignoring the advice and getting jabbed with a recognized vaccine. Its a bigger deal for the US volunteers because once theyve had 2 recognized jabs, they are allowed to do much more than those who havent. One lady on the US group was saying shes the only one left in her work place who has to wear a mask, which she finds annoying, but also comes with a stigma that youv'e refused the jab. Particularly frustrating when youve actually put yourself forward as a volunteer!!Also seems to be an issue over there for booking cruises.
That's so strange. I think we should applaud people who wear a mask. After all, they're doing it to protect other people, not themselves!

Very interesting point on antibody status of younger people.

50% already positive - I had no idea it was so high.

Significantly limits the total susceptible population.

The point being that the CDC say you don’t need to mask up if you’re double jabbed. As she is wearing a mask still, people assume she’s not had a jab due to being anti-vax or something.

Wales data:

The best vaccinated nation in the UK tells England - look at what you could have won - had the sharp downturn in vaccination supply in April and May not coincided with them letting flights from India come in.

0 deaths - was 0 last week

22 cases - was 94 last week

That is the lowest number for any UK nation in a year.

The 94 was for two days last week I should add because of the bank holiday.

Stop being a drama queen, we're at the home stretch now and it's a massive thanks to those names you've mentioned
Where as i agree with you i think the media wheel out nobodies who want there 15 mins of fame. Ive seen a few on GMTV etc who are loving being ‘experts’ and when this is all over theyll have to mooch off back into the shadows.

Lead news on BBC troops sent to Greater Manchester to help with mass testing to stop the cases rising.

All GM Residents told to minimise travel. Much of Lancashire too.

A few days late but hopefully will turn the tide as with Bolton.

BBC say the move in GM 'has been on the cards for a while'....so why the wait? Should have happened last week.

Now GM will likely get the blame for any delay to the opening up of the restrictions everywhere.

Especially as Liverpool data is oddly still low. Though Wirral has started to spike so you would assume Liverpool will too.

They can fuck off, I'm not minimising travel. I've got plans this weekend which I'm not changing.
They need to stop telling people how to live their lives.

If the North West wasn't so dire do you think we'd open up on 21st..and yes we're going to get some flak from the rest of the country..
