Our midfielders without Foden: Ferna (36), Gundo (31), Kevin (30), Bernie (27), Rodri (25).

Glad those entertaining the thought of selling both Bernie and Rodri have nothing to do with the management of the club.

Even if you find a better DM than Rodri, he will probably need a season to learn Pep's system. Remember even Ferna was crap in Pep's first season and lost his place to...Toure in the 2nd half of the season.

Some seem willing to write next season off.

That's a myth thats grown he may lack Fernandinho's defensive nouse but his forward balls and play are very good.
Not saying he doesn't have it in the bag, but what, 98% of his passes are sideways or backwards? I suppose that's what he's asked to do, so maybe its unfair...but I'd still play fernandinho over him when both are fit and that is exactly the point. Maybe I'm stuck in the past and rate Ferna too highly, but I just don't rate Rodri as much as others do and think there are better players out there (there's already one in this team!).

I can confidently predict that if any of our ITK’s were to now post that Rodri, walker or whoever want out then an exclusive story would be appearing on Twitter from some know nothing hack. They get everything from here. They know nothing like the rest of us apart from city’s regular ‘chosen’ select few - who are saying nothing atm. Can’t believe people on here are getting their knickers in a twist. Whatever happens, we’ll be stronger at the start of the season. That’s all that matters whoever comes and goes
Please stop acting naive about all these stories. Not saying they are 100% true btw. Maybe you don’t want to hear them but it doesn’t mean they don’t have an element of truth.

Rodri is not up to the physical demands and speed of the English league over 38 games. We had to include Bernie and Foden to help limit the damage.

For me personally I would sell rodders and wish him well. He has put in a decent shift and won the league. City learn from our mistake with buying an immobile DM.

It is no reflection on Rodri as a footballer sometimes it is just obvious that it hasn’t quite worked no matter how much we all want it.

It's weird that last sentence isn't it, because it seems at odds to what the chairman was hinting at in his end of season chat.
I'd be amazed if we don't strengthen significantly but I'd be more amazed if we go into next season weaker.
Just to clarify, I agree with what you're saying.

There may be a bit of half truth to one or two, but according to this thread we are loosing half our team, mostly to a skint Barcelona. And you talk about naive?

Don't think that's the reason Foden and Bernardo were in the team. Some of the guff in here about Rodri is unbelievable is he Fernandinho , obviously not, though Fernandinho wasn't Fernadinho 12 years ago either. He's different to Fernadinho but Pep will integrate him into the system and doubt he's going anywhere anytime soon and think in a year or 2 we'll be grateful he didn't.

He groomed himself for the position with all those passes to the opposition and lack of urgency to unfuck mistakes of his doing.
He made some errors in the last month or so of the season but for a period of about 5 months he was excellent.
I'm not here to convince people of his worth but it's not a shock to read posts going way overboard in their criticism of him.

I know those cliches and think they are wrong. He played more minutes than the other outfield players bar Dias and was therefore more likely to feel fatigue. His "immobility" wasn't a problem when we won 21 games in a row, was it? Pep was too reliant on him up to April and he lost form. Doesn't mean he wasn't excellent before that.

i thought he turned a corner but it all crept right back in alright.

there’s a major problem with a club record signing not being trusted in our biggest ever game at the end of his second season here. It really is damning and if it was just fans, fair enough but Pep clearly didn’t trust him in the home stretch either.
