Whilst Twitter is an absolute cesspit full of morons you would be very naive to not at least acknowledge the various reports that certain players want to leave. I like Rodri, he played pretty much every game of our winning run and was great until he hit a wall at the end of the season. I've seen people describe him as a defensive midfielder or a screening player, which is not primarily his job. He's a deep-lying playmaker, he starts moves and knits the game together for us. Just look at the number, variety, and accuracy of his passing. That's what he was primarily signed for. When you dominate the ball like we do you need passers first in every position, including goalkeeper.
However, with that being said, there are games where having a different option in midfield would be advantageous. Someone with the energy and ability to put out fires all over the pitch. Although that player would probably play alongside Rodri (as Kanté always plays next to a deep-lying playmaker) rather than instead of him. A player that can do both like prime Fernandinho is unbelievably rare.
