I should respect anyone who doesn't get the jab if they have a complete fear of needles but I'm finding it difficult, don't expect any compassion or access to the things in life the rest of us want. Overcome the fear, don't be a shithouse and protect yourself and others, it's only a little prick but you'll be used to that.

If someone doesn’t get the jab because they have a ‘fear of needles’ they’re a selfish mard arse **** who needs a slap, not respect.

I’m scared of needles as well, and have a phobia of hospitals / most ‘medical’ stuff.

I had a panic attack in the waiting room bit after having my first jab.

My second can’t come soon enough.

Some people need to just stop being twats and suck it up.

People have phobias about all kinds of things and needles is one of them, so I do have some empathy. That said, I would imagine those not taking the vaccine due to a fear of needles is only a small number (I've come across people with a fear of needles who have overcome that in order to get the Covid jab) compared to the anti-vax wankers who think Bill Gates wants to kill us all off. That's where my anger is directed.

Anyone who turns it down for whatever reason who isn’t medically exempt is a selfish thick dickhead and I’ve got zero empathy for them.

You think you’ve got a 1 in 100 chance of dying on that drive? How bad is your driving?
You think you’ve got a 1 in a 100 chance of dying from Covid if you’re under 60 and reasonably healthy?
You obviously don’t know what your risk of dying is, of anything, year on year, and why would you?
If you did, you’d know that Covid has barely increased that risk, at all.

Evidence? Double vaccination still works against the virus. Single vaccination is not as strong as against previous strains.
The person I quoted asked about the second jab being brought forward from 12 to 8 weeks. A point I was merely highlighting within that article.
Which is, anywhere between 8 and 12 leads to a greater immune response.

I'm terrified of needles yet I'm still getting my jab tomorrow. You make do when you have to.

My wife and I have lived like hermits for 15 months and I have had enough of it. Both of us have had the two OAZ vaccinations and I am just going to go back to near normal, though I will still wear my mask in shops and large crowds. Stuff foreign holidays too much faffing about but am actively looking at holidays in the UK and will renew my season ticket.
Good to hear. Of course, you're already able to go to pubs, restaurants, cinemas, many museums, and stay in hotels here.

Whether you'll be able to watch City at the Etihad come August will depend if capacity and social distancing restrictions.

My wife has a horrific needle phobia. took her a while to get the courage up to do this and was fine so fingers crossed you will be OK.

just dont watch and you will barely know its happened is my advice. its nothing like a blood test or anything like that. When I had mine done I thought the guy was just moving my arm to get the muscle lined up and that was actually the jab.

Fair play. Which was kind of my point really - many will tough out their fears and get the jab.

If the papers were anything to go by they are planning the J&J single jab as hopefully a way to alleviate this issue with needles.

I did read that Pfizer are trying to create a patch that delivers the vaccine like a nicotine patch but thats a way off yet. years probably.

Yep, a really painless jab. Just don't look.

Here's the actual chart comparing like for like without any data conversion. Massivley different . You're welcome

"without any data conversion."

Lol.

Whatever you did to that "rescaled" data, which of course you don't tell us, you've managed to reduce a real ~6 fold increase to a presented <2 fold increase for the current wave.

I mean, that's pretty impressive rescaling.

Best on ignore. He'll be claiming 2 + 2 = 5 next then kindly providing everyone a link to a calculation which tells us it's 4 before claiming to have been right all along. Strange behaviour.

you've got confussed with cases mate.

mines on admission numbers. the scale is just an uplift of new wave adminssions to match the day 0 number of the autumn day 0 number.

data is here

Dont upset the covid cartel on here mate.

Whatever the arguments about case numbers, etc, from what I can see after looking at that Gov UK link hospital admissions aren't exactly hitting catastrophic levels. Less than 1000 in UK hospitals when at the peak in January it was nearly 40,000. All the data suggests the vaccines are working and working very well so unless a totally vaccine resistant variant comes along I don't believe for one moment we will get anywhere near 40,000 Covid hospital patients ever again, regardless of whether restrictions are lifted on June 21st or not.
