From the body language it seemed he was trying to ingratiate himself with his future captain.
I remember how many City fans read the fawning reports about the wonderful Marcus Rashford beating Garcia for speed to score and were clamouring for us to sign him. Now that particular myth has gone up in a puff of smoke despite his public fake religious devotions tonight, it seems Jack Spratt is the the new boi for the fan-boi's.
Both Grealish and Rashford might as well stayed on the bench for the little impact they made.

Came on and was double or triple teamed most of the time, which was smart from Scotland. As Foden had been taken off there was no one else worth marking and God knows England wouldn't have moved the ball quickly enough to take advantage of any overloads anyway

Foden had been the same all night, so Southgate decided to swap one for the other. If he pulled Kane or Sterling and put Grealish on the other side to Foden, they couldn't have doubled up on both of them.

He brings similar things to Foden in terms of running at players, at pace and with skill. Suspect both of them in a team could be a handful, especially with KdB pulling the strings rather than Phillips

It’s extremely frustrating! I want Foden AND Grealish on the pitch, and Sterling should be the one to make way… Gareth seems to think it’s one or the other.
