Peter Walton..

It is a long held desideratum of mine to take a meaningful sweep of the dead wood that inhabit the upper echelons of the F.A, EPL and our pals at Pigmol. One of the first things to do, is to do away with NDA's, when refs retire there should no golden hand shakes to keep schtum. Interviews should be conducted away from the pitch with the refs in a quiet room in the stadium. This follows my highest requisite that the refs should be miced up so we can hear exactly what they are saying and what they are being told.
That will do for a start, but I know it is wishful thinking.
Far too much money swilling around in the game. It would open up the games governance to potential legal action due to loss of earnings if it were ever admitted that there was a dodgy decision knowingly covered up, especially say a blatant handball in a CL Semi-Final.

It's blatant cheating in plain sight and the sad thing is the media did absolutely nothing about it then and it's still going on now, not that you'd hear about it

To be fair, at the time, the media were probably far too busy dishing up shit on those FFP cheats City who had already been found guilty in a jumped up kangaroo court, overseen by the usual suspects,

The gutter press were doing their utmost to get the most successful PL team of the last decade banned from European football, stripped of their titles and enforcing a points deduction / demotion to be arsed about Scudamore's trivial comments..!

Spinless *****..!
He also claimed to have a "strategic plan" to have a new winner every six years. I couldn't believe my ears when that came up! How can that be interpreted other than being totally bent?

The Brighton game which had nothing riding on it withe some of the most astonishing reffing ever. Sure someone made a killing on the outcome. The media is didn't see anything wrong which maybe fits in with the hate City narrative. Very odd though that they don't appear to call out rotten decisions.

But don't the PIGMOB officiate to an interpretation of the LoTG rather than to the actual LoTG. Witness the way VAR is used here compared to Europe.

If there is nothing to hide why isn't there transparent governance? Why don't contentious decisions get explanation?

Football is big business but enveloped in all encompassing secrecy at the top level. For the allegations of corruption to be addressed it needs to embrace openness and accountability.

Other posters at the time of the Brighton game commented on the betting odds and the way they changed prior to kick off. Players used to comment on deliberately kicking the ball out of play from kick off to win a bet.

There is too much money involved and the betting companies are dangerously entrenched in the sport. without transparency, accountability via explanation on decisions etc. the game is open to corruption.

Football has been bent since it was invented. All sport is bent to some extent.
The more money that is pumped into a sport, the more corrupt it becomes. The amounts involved in football transfers, salaries etc are beyond obscene. Bear in mind that they're just the amounts we're aware of.
Take the betting companies out of the equation and the vast majority of overseas sponsorship etc would probably disappear overnight.

Only the most naive amongst us would think that the PL exists purely for football.

Let it go.

How about a ferret up the trouser leg instead?
