Ah well, seems there’s plenty of delta in Rammy, daughter just tested positive on a lateral flow so the 4 of us are off for a pcr in half an hour. Soon see how double vaccine works etc, me and missus are double AZ, my son is single Pfizer, daughter had none as only 17.

Funnily enough, my local was half empty last night for the game as good chunk of the regulars have tested positive or isolating due to close contacts with a positive. Maybe the ZOE app is correct about Bury, lol.

Good luck buddy. Hopefully you're all okay and fighting fit ASAP.

Does being double vaccinated prevent you being a carrier and passing it on or is that not yet known?

you can still catch it and it’s a toss up if you fell very unwell with it or it feels like a cold or nothing you can pass it on but it’s believed the transmission of Covid is a lot less if you vaccinated..
I'm double jabbed and tested positive on Thursday, flu like symptoms but not as bad as real flu which I had years ago that wiped me out for a week.
Just coughing alot now, no energy, sense of smell or taste.
One of the 3 lads I was with on Tuesday also tested positive and rough now.
He's also double jabbed.

Wales update

THIS DATA IS FROM FRIDAY - TOMORROW IS AS USUAL DOUBLE DAY SAT & SUN

0 deaths - was 1 last week

535 cases - was 416 last week

3.9% positivity - was 2.5% last week

My daughter has to isolate as a child from her childminder' has tested positive.
My daughter's headteacher has a granddaughter who should also be isolating as she is in the year group bubble with the child who tested positive.
My daughter was supposed to be watching a dance show yesterday from her dance school that the headteacher'granddaughter was in - and the granddaughter turned up to take part.
This is after the headteacher has been very vocal about following the rules. He has sent out loads of emails, letters, Facebook posts etc about following the rules as well as being on local radio to emphasise the point.
He has also insisted that parents wear a mask in the playground when picking up the kids even though it's outside.
I am going to drop my kid off at school and not wear a mask so that he stops me to ask me to put one on and I'll be telling him why I'm not.

I didn’t know Matt Hancock was a headteacher too

Two wrongs and all that.
Why don't you just be an adult and phone up to voice your concerns and dissatisfaction.

Seeing a lot of anti vax stuff on twitter now. Any talking head will do. A lot of talk about unneccessary vaccines, seems to rest of the simultaneous misconception that COVID is a harmless disease.

Which is the mess that we've got ourselves into by focusing on deaths, and allowing the idea that everyone else just recovers their full health.

Time will tell but everything I've read suggests otherwise. It's going to prove a very destructive disease with the potential to be debilitating to millions long term. Aside from the visible long COVID cases, it seems likely we'll be treating very many people more often for things that would have simply not have required it in the past. We've really dropped the ball with educating people on that.

This is not a cry for more measures or anything. The measures are really not helping as much as good education would. People's mental health matters more than ever, coming to terms with the whole thing is the desirable outcome. It's not a 'two jabs and the whole thing is over' future, but neither should we rely so heavily on damaging restrictions and rules.

Pretty much describes my experience with covid when I'd had no jabs back in Jan which is worrying. I suppose the key thing is numbers / percentage of hospitalisations / mortality rather than cases. We'll have a better picture of how the vaccine is / isn't working by the time the clocks change I think.

We used to think it stops spreading when enough people become immune, and then it started to dawn on people that every time it infects someone it changes slightly and the cumulative effect means that our immunity can be bypassed to an extent.

Best of luck mate. Let us know how you get on.

Sorry to hear that and a speedy recovery to you. Since I made that post a fella I work with has messaged me and his wife has tested positive and is double jabbed. She caught it off their daughter whilst the daughter was + and self isolating at home.

Sounding more and more like we have to just get on with it and at some point pretty much everyone will get it in a milder form, just a case of taking your chances with long covid.

I think we know already, don't we?

Very good but not perfect.

Or did you mean something different?
No we don't. How long does a zoonotic virus take to adapt to its host?

Mutation rate maybe constant per replication but it maybe as it gets better adapted the rate of change of r(0) will slow as it approaches the best possible configuration. This is idle conjecture.

We already know how it’s working mate. It’s already broken the link between cases and hospitalisations/deaths

next round of vaccines might be significant if they are targeted on escape variants.

Big difference between vaccinating into a partially immune population and one that has little immunity. It means that the virus can't runaway and change rapidly

Oh sure, further virus evolution might change things, but asv you say, that's idle conjecture.

We know how well the vaccines do against the current virus.
