Scotland data:

0 deaths - was 1 last week

2726 cases - was 2639 last week

11.4% positivity - was 8.9% last week

THOSE SEEMA LITTLE BETTER.....BUT

316 patients - up from 306 yesterday & 196 last week - a huge jump in 7 days

25 ventilator icu - was 25 yesterday and 17 last week

Hopefully these increases in hospital numbers do not escalate further
You can’t really do much better than zero deaths

So the three nations deaths are 0 today with England to come

Last week it was 2 with 9 added from England = 11

And three nation cases total 3794 with England to come

Last week it was 3316 with 11, 560 added from England = 14, 876

Yesterday's 3 nation total was 3568 - but that was without Wales who have posted today,

England yesterday added 21, 317 total 24,885

To be fair it’s almost always zero on Sunday. That said deaths are still very low and hospital cases creeping up, but stays much shorter, and while officially we still have restrictions most are now using their own interpretations of them.
The difference between now and in a few weeks when restictions lifted will be miniscule. Plus schools have been off here for a week now so think cases will start to fall in the next week or so.

I'm a bit perplexed that evidence from scientific data is required to live life as normal and not the other way around. Hear me out, I'm generally one of the more cautious types around when it comes to Covid and restrictions etc, or at least that's how I'd view myself anyway.

But surely the presumption and standard should be on as normal a life as possible unless scientific data suggests it's too dangerous and the restrictions are needed. Backed up with data, numbers and confidence levels.

Questions around hospital bed occupancy, ICU and deaths are the right questions, but they should be answered by means of why the country should be restricted and not why it shouldn't be, if that makes sense.

It's like a court defendant being presumed guilty and having to go to trial to prove his innocence, it seems a bit backwards. So instead of labour party asking for proof it's safe to open up, shouldn't they be providing data why it's completely unsafe to do just that?

How many hospitalised? How many
died? No where near enough to continue major restrictions for sure
Anyway, nobody is following the rules in pubs and supermarkets so whats the point?

Just that like any other respiratory virus it'll tend to just 'tick over' during the summer months and ramp up as we head into the traditional coughs and colds season.
Coughs and colds will be dreadful for the next 3 months as we open up. We haven't been keeping up with immunity from trad coughs and colds.

Colds won’t matter much unless you have shares in Beechams/Halls.

The only thing that it will cause is doubt as to whether you have a cold or Covid.

It's hard to extrapolate from personal experience.

I was last in a pub Thursday. Rules strictly enforced.

Supermarket yesterday. Masks universal.

I've no idea if my experience or yours is most representative.

They specifically said it should be used for the vulnerable so you saying they suggested they should not and let the virus rip is a misrepresentation.

whether what they actually argue is correct or not is another matter.
They had no solution to the pandemic. Without vaccinations we would be in a desperate situation as most people in poorer countries are now. This pair are just trying to de-stabilise and undermine things. I believe it is essentially an anti-vax propaganda video.

Spot on. That doubt is a problem - many common symptoms and of course the app pinging folk to SI. I suppose the answer to that is really quick turnaround of PCR tests to release people from SI as fast as possible. It's not bad now - about a day or two, but if it became possible to test and get results within an hour or two it would be a great help in keeping our lives and economy on track.

That's my experience as well. I actually think the vast majority of people have been really good, certainly in my area of Lancashire. I was in the North East last week and it was the same there.

You misrepresented the content and so have no moral high ground to pour scorn on others.

Perhaps Sheffield is very different from Manchester, case growth might suggest that, but I've yet to see any significant breach of Covid rules in shops/pubs/transport. Though there seem to be FAR more folk exempt from mask wearing on trams in North Manchester compared to Sheff.

Apropos of nothing: Public opinion has changed before, I'd never rule out it changing again.

Also, more non-mask wearers at the supermarket today, quite noticeable, staff have stopped wearing them. I thought the suspicion was that Delta was supposed to be transmissible by very short lived contact? No bugger wears them in the streets.

Probably just mild anxiety from having a few cans last night but I've been stuck in a few loops today of thinking what things used to be like. I really want to go home but its so difficult and at times I feel the rules are so obtuse as to create confusion, a bit like ringing the DWP or trying to claim tax back. Not far off a year now since I last set foot in Manchester. My age range is due for vaccination here soon and I am waiting patiently, but I was at a christening last week with a number of friends a few years younger than me who had all had at least one jab, so fuck knows how these people are magically wangling appointments for themselves.

There are pop up vaccination sites where no appointment is necessary. If you want a vaccination, Google where they are near you and head on down.
