Zoe app today shows NW now in THIRD place with Northern Ireland now way ahead of even Scotland in very dark red! Three times the NW levels. NE & Yorkshire and London closing in on overtaking the NW too on Zoe.

Where has that N I data come from?

Haha!

Don't mind getting no likes.

But here's an optimistic memory for you. You might even "like" it.

"Rejoice! The end is in sight!"

I tried to write it mate as not being seen to be having a pop as such, just feel it borders on the negative slant and I think we are all trying to feel slightly more positive about life.

I broadly agree, but as we can't be sure ,why remove things that aren't really restrictive and don't impact our everyday lives like masks. Why not keep them for another month or so to see how we go.

Nobody is forcing you to stop wearing a mask, you know.

If you think like that, you can bet millions of others do too. I reckon a lot of people will continue to wear a mask beyond the 19th - i will do.

Zoe App data

Predicted cases up 781 to 32, 820 - modest rise by recent standards

Ongoing cases 398, 970 - up 12, 418 in past 24 hours

In Scotland Stirling on 16, 885, Aberdeen 16, 345 and Glasgow City on 15,000 were the highest I saw. But there are so many red areas I did not check them all.

In the North East everywhere is red - with Durham on 11, 908 and Sunderland 10, 817

In the North West the highest (and in England too) WAS until today Lancaster on 19, 127

See GM below....

Liverpool are on 12, 579

Greater Manchester:

Bury top on 19, 190 - worst in UK - which is hard to fathom given real life data though it is much higher than it should be it is not close to the worst in GM and getting better.

Zoe need to be looking closely at the efficacy of their data here.

Wigan second (about right on real data) on 16, 053

Manchester next on 13, 713

Salford on 11, 654

And Trafford on 11, 307 - the only other over 10K

The rest are:-

Bolton 6720, Stockport 5199 (which is edging up on Zoe), Tameside 4681. Oldham 3266 (seems very low given its worst in GM numbers in past week), Rochdale 2715

It isn't about me personally though is it. The mask doesn't protect me. Wearing a mask is to protect others. So a shop assistant, etc has a right to be protected from you or anyone spreading covid while they are working. So what's the harm making that more likely by ,for now, making it compulsory. What harm is it doing, none. Is there a potential benefit, yes. So there is no reason to remove that just yet.

A lot won‘t. It’s like seatbelt laws. You start by trying to persuade, most think it’s a good idea and most drove without a seatbelt until compelled too.

The economic argument for masks works. I’m not entering a shop masked if it’s reasonably busy and no one is wearing a mask. Mask or not, I ain’t having people breathing in my face. If everyone is masked, I’d feel more comfortable.

I‘m not even saying we need to wear a mask forever, just ease into it. Chucking everything out on an arbitrary date is kind of dumb, nor will it make people comfortable to go out and spend money which is what this is mainly about.

I was asked about the situation in Kent on here yesterday,

Dartford on 1775 and Medway on 5413 can be compared on their Zoe data with the GM numbers above.

In real cases Dartford is in mid 20s daily - up from mid teens a week ago and single figures daily mid Jun.

But these are versus the numbers in January when it was one of the worst in the UK at well over 200 cases a day.

Medway - higher on Zoe as you see - is mid 40s now up from mid 30s last week and mid 20s in mid Jun.

Compared with in January when they had a weekly Pop of over 1000 - far ahead of anywhere in GM and double where Bolton EVER reached.

Medway in January had a peak of 699 cases on one day and was around 400 or so for a time

So as you can see Kent is about 10 times less than in January but 2 or 3 times where it was a coupke of weeks ago,

A pattern in much of the south.

England hospital deaths

32 with 12 from the North West.

Last week it was 20 with 4 and wk before 25 with 10.

We ARE now seeing the death impact of the higher NW cases from a week or two ago as sadly predicted by those rising ventilator numbers I have been posting in past 2 - 3 weeks. The only region in the UK with over 100 on ventilators - a third of the entire number in the UK.

Tuesday is usually the biggest number of the week as it has the weekend registrations catch up.

But this is the highest daily number on any day since 20 April,

The state-led restrictions are over, and the logic was spelled out yesterday albeit in code.

England hospital deaths - more detail

East 0, London 6, Midlands 5, NE & Yorkshire 6, North West 12, South East 3, South West 0

Age ranges: 8 aged 40 - 59, 11 aged 60 - 79 and 13 aged 80 PLUS

You will notice how these are getting closer together some days

The highest number - 3 - was in Stockport amongst others.

Other NW numbers Blackpool 1, Bolton 1, Lancashire 3, Manchester 1, Tameside 1, Warrington 1 and Wigan 1

July 2 after 4 days in on 16 - the highest 4 day number since 20 April - same day England hospital deaths last topped 32 on one day,

There is little doubt numbers are edging up but only slowly,

First 5 days of the past 3 weeks totaled 36 - 50 and this week 59.

But these will grow in coming weeks even if the NW cases fall because of the lag and because all the other regions are sadly going to start rising too as their cases grow.

Less certain at the moment than I was we will avoid peaking over 100 deaths on a day, But we will see.

Scotland data

ANOTHER DAY SUGGESTING A PEAK MAY BE HERE

6 deaths - was 1 - sadly as in England we will see these rise in the next week or two via the lag

2363 cases - was 3118 last week - similar to yesterday and another good wk to wk fall

10.2% positivity - was 11.6% last week - even better news

346 patients - up 8 on yesterday - was 215 last week - still going up

32 ventilated - up 2 on yesterday - was 20 last week - as in the NW these climbing too.

The North West cases over the past 4 days have been 5033 - 3997 - 3989 - 3945

Greater Manchester 2217 - 1703 - 1726 - 1678

There are similarities here as you can see - though not as stark as Scotland as yet,

And it could easily disappear tonight, of course, with today's data,
