I think acceleration of the delta's going to cause us immense problems but more so on the continent were the level of immunization is not as advanced.

If you want to stay indoors forever because you are scared of everything then crack on. At some point we have to go out again. If you don't want to take risks then don't, but some people are comfortable going out and mixing with other people and accepting the risks that brings. You are probably one of those people who likes to see trees cut down so that kids can't climb them to get conkers.

I'm not sure how it's going in the UK but here in Spain we've been out and about living a fairly normal life for months now. Everything is open and the streets are busy so not much sign of people scared to leave the house.
Is this a problem back home? Are people genuinely not leaving their houses through fear?

I think most people here want the same, but a few seem to want to maintain the lockdown, just in case. That was the point I was making. We need to get on with it at some point.

What's the point though if there are no restrictions in the venue? Unless you are still restricted in the venue and have to sit at your own table, it wouldn't make any sense. I'll just put my mask on to enter the venue, then remove it as I stand next to people at the bar, but must put it on again to walk to the toilet.
 
i deliver to a house and a young lad answers the door with a mask and gloves every time. another fella carries round his own disinfectant and cloth and wipes every surface in the shop before going near it. at what point do these people stop.

The current restrictions should remain in my opinion. Table service has been great anyway.

Baffled why it's not such a big thing in the UK to start with. Table service not only keeps big crowds congregating at the bar and invariably pissing people off when the person next to them gets served before them but it's much better for business.
In general a table won't get up to go to the bar until the last minute and when there's football on many will nurse their drink until half time.
My staff are trained to get an order as soon as they see somebody's glass get to around a quarter full. You tend to find even those who were umming and arring over getting another drink say yes as an automatic response when a server asks them if they want more.
 
Is there actually any real evidence masks prevent the spread of COVID?

I've seen articles about how the particles (not sure if that's the right term) are so small they easily get through a standard mask. There are other people saying they stop you spreading it, but not catching it etc.

Also, in the places where I'd be likely to wear a mask (public transport, football, shopping), is there actual evidence that COVID is spreading in these environments? It's likely spread in households and closed spaces - so is there a need to wear one stood on the South Stand for example?

I'm not against wearing a mask. I don't like the environmental impact of wearing something once then chucking it though. If the science is clear and obvious that it stops the spread then I'll wear one - but I'm not convinced it does. It's probably good for other things (maybe it stops other colds of bugs going round?) But do we have actual evidence to prove this?

I do think there is strong evidence that with any airborne disease, good ventilation should be a requirement.
