#7 | Raheem Sterling - 2020/21 Performances

the contrast between his performance for City and England might be the contrast between Pep and GS . Pep has a demanding and micro-managed system, whereas GS seems to give his team permission to free-style more. Raz definitely seemed distracted for City, taking the safe option, rather than the more risky option, which seems to bring the best out of him. Could be bollocks, of course, but the
difference between City Raz and England Raz is there for all to see. At the moment it seems like two differeent players in the same body...

Im sure Pep is on record saying his job is to coach the players to get to the final 3rd, thereafter, they are free to express themselves (or something along those lines).

Haha! Imagine coming on this thread to post we should still get rid after his performances over the last fortnight. Yeah, had a poor season by his standards but fuck me..
Stupid stupid people.

I could have told you the names before they posted. It's just sad now.

Deserves another season to turn himself around.

Don't want Kane personally but if it gives us this version of Raheem for 2/3 seasons then £100m is a small price to pay.

I'm with you mate. Yes he's looked good for England, and hopefully that means his woeful form for us over the past 18 months - and yes it has been woeful - will take a turn for the better.

But you cannot equate the sorts of games and opposition he's been playing for England in the Euros, compared to the park the bus wall of defence we have to face week in week out over 38 games. He doesn't usually get space to run in behind. I've been saying for quite a long time now he's a very good player in the right team, but we are not the right team for him, as it stands at least. Maybe if we do change our style to have a Kane-like front man, things might be different. But until then, no, I expect more of the sorts of rubbish we saw from him last season.

I'd be quite happy to see us cash in personally.
So if we can get a striker would you still sell him? ( highly doubt City will be selling him after his performances in the Euros). No one is disputing he has had a poor season, but he has proved in previous seasons that he is a vital part of the team that contributes assists and scores goals. Don't you think he deserves another to prove himself similar to John Stones.?

Possibly, but probably from some U.K. residents who have verbally abused him on this very thread this past year as well. Why not ask the many City supporters' clubs and individual supporters in Denmark and Ireland before questioning the sources or read the previous 641 pages here.
I think you missed my point. The Danish would be having a pop because they just got knocked out and there are quite a few Irish people that won't be happy that we got through. I could have named all the people that hate England, City and Raz but I didn't think it necessary. Apologies if it read as "all Danish and Irish people hate Raheem Sterling".

Sterling has been England's best player in the Euros.

And thankfully there's this in the news (the forum auto-formatting refused to let me post this - change hxxps to https in the text below to see the article):

A well-deserved contract extension.

He's been fantastic, great to see.
Seems so much happier in an England shirt & is obviously enjoying it.

Just to reiterate, what you are seeing from Sterling now is the reason Pep shoehorned him into the CL final team.

Spot on pal,but that wont stop the same characters throwing insult because you disagree with their blinkered, self righteous, opinions.

Yep,and called it wrong.
In retrospect, yes, but it could easily have worked. I understood why he did it at the time and wasn’t complaining - I was marvelling at his boldness. It’s also not the only reason we lost the game. We were paralysed by nerves and expectation and had a tactical problem in the full back/wing back positions. And didn’t score when we could/should have early on.

It’s been done to death and is history now but this accepted “Pep lost the champions league by picking Sterling” narrative is too simplistic and unfair on both Sterling and Pep. That’s my point.

regardless I’m delighted for Raz, the most bullied player in England’s history. I’d love him to win it for us.

Sterling's made them look stupid as each game goes by yet they continue to embarrass themselves and keep digging. Must admit its great viewing.

His selection was far from hindsight for many,it was a recipe for disaster.

I agree, and i dont think ive seen it posted.....that picking Sterling was the sole reason,as football is a bit more complicated than that. However there is no avoiding the fact that he tried fixing something that wasn't broke and he played into Chelsea's far less talented hands.

Yep,great seeing Sterling playing to his strengths and playing his best football. He's not without fault still, but he is close to the lad i marvelled at back in 2018/19.
