Harry Kane

I don’t fancy watching a footballer who spends most of the game either getting in front of a defender or getting the ball and moving into a position where he’s in front of a defender, then letting his body relax while the defender runs into him and he just flops over to the floor.

That seems to be what he does for 75% of the times he touches the ball.

It’s awful to watch.

What do you expect from a striker in this England team?

If he tried running in behind constantly and getting in the 6 yard box he would end the game with less than 20 touches.

We create fuck all under Southgate and Kane knows this that's why he constantly drops into midfield.

Good players look good anyway. Sterling has shone in both systems, Foden has looked great at times for England, Stones and Walker immense all season.
What system??? I had been adamant from the beginning the England national team is poorly coached. Win or lose my opinion is the same. I'm sorry when you have WC talents in every position bar the goalkeeper then I expect quality and fluid play in most matches. Instead the supporters are treated to a cheap imitation of a prime Atlético Madrid or 2010 Ínter Milan. England got through the final because they are a quality side and not because of Gareth Southgate. They should be playing a lot better than this and showing their full potential.

Amen....

All his best work this tournament has been doing things we wouldn't want him to do at City because it doesn't suit our approach or because we have better players to do those things. It's a big gamble on whether he can adapt, he's spent the majority of his career playing like this for England and spurs because he has to, I don't see anywhere close to a guarantee he could mould his game around our needs.

I've never been less keen for City to get what the media perceive to be our top targets this summer in Kane and Grealish. I'd sooner go into the season unchanged if that's the option.

I have the confidence in Pep and the hierarchy to find the right striker for us, and if Kane is their choice, then so be it.

I don't understand the bashing on here about the way he is currently playing, we would want him for one reason alone, and that is to put away the numerous chances that our team seems to waste. He is a proven goal scorer, who I believe would go to another level under Pep in our team.

Let's not forget. the last three managers he has played under are Southgate, Maureen, and someone who has not coached at the top level, so none really got the best out of him.

Southgate is certainly not a great coach, we got to the final because of the players, we certainly do not play to a recognized system, he has a great knack of making good players look ordinary. We know how bloody amazing Phil is in Pep's team, but jeez Southgate's system sold him, Grealish and Kane very short.

I think due to the lack of service Kane was trying to hard to get involved, put him in a structured environment under a great coach, and I believe he will perform.

However like most on here I would much prefer Haaland, but I just feel his demands have priced him out of any deal, plus Dortmund would be reluctant to sell him in the same window as Sancho.

Don’t think it is fair to include Maureen there because he got the best out of him though

It's just a mental block, Kane in a final, Spurs DNA etc etc. I think his involvement was still good in the first goal. But there is just no service to him, and eventually it got worse and worse as England stopped playing after 20 minutes and let the game slip away casually.

He was a big big part of that stopping playing. I had to check he was still on the pitch a few times in extra time, he went missing so much.

He has great numbers, mostly collected over a couple seasons 4,5 years ago. But I'm sorry, I can't come round to seeing him as a great player, no matter how hard I try. And at that price, he needs to be.

You could make the same argument for Sterling and Mount who did nothing, as a team they stopped pressing and forgot the principles they relied on in earlier games, no intensity, no control, no desire to win the ball. They were hoofing it by the end of first half, bad indication in itself. I think once that happened Kane got even more predictable

Sorry, No. Sterling kept trying the whole game. He got into good positions, he ran, pressed, got into the box, at least looked like a threat. Mount less so but still was involved. Kane was completely invisible for 70% of that game. He totally lived up to that BM cliche of disappearing in big games.

If you play 8 defensive players and 3 attacking players it’s always gonna be hard getting a centre forward into the game
Put into our system he will be doing his running further up the pitch

Any excuse to have a pop
You haven’t tried to see him as a great player, you do everything you can to show he’s not
And your wrong about it

By the same token sterling’s effort was there but his final ball was missing
As it was in champions league final
Is he a big game player?

I'm not the one making excuses here. He had a poor game, overall. He had a really poor tournament. Moments where he looked good, but few and far between.

So much of the arguement for him seems to be built around the assumption that in our side with our players and our manager, he Could be better than he seems to be. I'm sorry, but that isn't what you spend 120m on. That can be said for most players.

And fyi I really Have tried to convince myself. It is a shame there has been a tournament on, otherwise I might have maybe managed it. I even made the excuses for him first couple games.
