Harry Kane

I'm not the one making excuses here. He had a poor game, overall. He had a really poor tournament. Moments where he looked good, but few and far between.

So much of the arguement for him seems to be built around the assumption that in our side with our players and our manager, he Could be better than he seems to be. I'm sorry, but that isn't what you spend 120m on. That can be said for most players.

And fyi I really Have tried to convince myself. It is a shame there has been a tournament on, otherwise I might have maybe managed it. I even made the excuses for him first couple games.
Yep, world class strikers should be able to create goals out of nothing. Good player but can’t really see how he takes City to the next level.

I reckon this defeat for England will hit Kane really hard. England captain but probably the only player in the squad going back to a club on a downward spiral. If he doesn't force his way out of Spuds this summer the likely hood of him winning a major trophy or even playing CL again are pretty slim.
If Spuds turn down a deal approaching £100m this summer then they will do next year. He'll be trapped at a midtable club who have no ambition and some stupid slogans from the 1960s. Do it now Harry or you will regret it for the rest of your life.

If you play 8 defensive players and 3 attacking players it’s always gonna be hard getting a centre forward into the game
Put into our system he will be doing his running further up the pitch
If only others could see it this way, good god I am so glad we won't have to witness football played like it is under Southgate. I will agree to one point, about Kane just having this mental block where he disappears in big games. It showed yesterday again. But yeah, in our system, the way we play, he will be doing the business, there is no doubt.

so the people who dont want kane who do you think we could sign considering Haaland it now seems Haaland isnt an option this season and Messi will NEVER happen?

So he didn’t get premier league golden boot and most assists last season then?
Love to know who these forwards who create their own chance are?
Haaland ? Well he seems to excel on the counter running into space
Mbappe - had a great euros?
Who else?

Thought Kane showed some moments of really great football last night but once Bonucci and Chielini got their act together Kane was literally written out of the game. His night was made harder by lack of decent service and general poor team work.

Not having a pop at him; if he joins us he'll be great playing in a totally different system.

Kane didn't stand a chance playing for Southgate.

Why isnt Haaland an option? - If we are going to spunk 100m on Kane an extra 20m or so will turn Dortmunds heasd (especially if he goes for 65m next year)...they aint turning that down....The only reason we miss out on Haaland is because we have our sights set on Kane as no.1 priority

Why wont Messi happen? - Messi was on the verge last summer and all that stopped him was the transfer wrangle. he even said that he thought he would have won in court (and there is no way you say something like that without running it past your lawyers first) but that he didnt want to put the club through that.

Id have both of those in an instant over Kane......Id also have Dybala over Kane as he is more mobile and links play vry well, and fits into a fluent front 3 (Kane doesnt)......Christ, Id have Vardy Id have over Kane as well and I cant stand that Steptoe looking twat...lethal finisher, more mobile as well. You could argue any decent striker in most of the top divisions would score goals for us and improve like we are being told Kane will if he comes to us as its true when you ahve KDB, Foden, Sterling Gundogan, Mahrez behind you. Dominic Clavert Lewin would improve his numbers in our team as well (is he better than Kane at present -no - but in our team he would hugely improve).....and thats the arguement....we dont want a player who improves in our team, we want a forward who improves the team...

Agreed with most of the sentiment with regards to hard to judge Kane based on a Southgate team.

England had the ball for %29 percent well in to the second half, they hardly pressed and Kane was positioned well in to the English defensive half.

Kane is actually great linking up with players, has great ball control, a killer pass and a lethal finisher in and out of the box.

Under Pep the style is complete domination, wearing the opposition out and then intricate passing to create space. How many times last season did we struggle in certain games, so were whipping the ball in to nobody. Kane would be gobbling those up all day long.

Another benefit of Kane was I imagine pep would not be as keen to use the inverted wingers. The most enthralled I’ve been as a city fan was seeing Sane wide left and Sterling wide right, with aguero in the middle. Behind them KDB and Silva linking to unlock defences where both could use their killer through balls.

I can honestly see the goal this window is Kane and Grealish. With them you’d have Sterling on the right, Phil on left and Kane in middle. Grealish being trained up to do the Silva role, KDB being KDB and city being an absolute steam train!

I have zero need to have a pop at players of other clubs. And no pleasure in doing so.

Before the tournament, I couldn't see the club doubling our record transfer fee on Harry Kane. Now I can see it even less. He has numbers, that is it for me, and even they when looked more at aren't what many seem to be expecting from him.

There are only a couple top players, if they are indeed not available, I don't see the need to spend the money it would take to sign them on one who just isn't as good, or the right profile.

That is all. The rest will play out as it plays out.

Just before the tournament I could see why Pep wanted Kane and though he would be a good fit, even though personally I would do everything to get Haaland.

Post tournament I hope the club walk away from Kane, he is not for us, slow, tired looking, predictable, no personality on the pitch, a big no from me.

Haaland it has to be, if the deal can't be done, maybe a gamble on an up and coming talent or go for a short term striker.

0 touches in the 18 yard box in 120 minutes.

It's not the manager's orders, he was hiding or he's not fit enough to play in the build up and finish the chances anymore.

There were 2 or 3 points in the second half when Sterling and Grealish got into the box, looked to cross, and there was no one there. Even Jenas (who defends Kane to the hilt) couldn't work out why he was sitting on the edge of the box.

Nothing we can do about it, I expect he'll come here and he'll score goals because we create so many chances - but we'll over pay horrendously and will be paying more in 3 years when he's done.
Surprised you have this opinion by the way. Kane literally spent 120 minutes playing from midfield. He definitely wasnt a striker today. He was a midfielder playing balls into either the wingbacks, Sterling or mount. Englands biggest weakness is their clear lack of creative midfielder. Lot of attacking talent but nothing to deliver the attacking talent any balls.

Let's get this deal done now

Pretty much. I hope that this accelerates this week. He'll be hurting after last night and he should be taking that out on Levy this morning by demanding he keep his promise from last summer and sell him.

Plus it'd just be nice to get the 9 position sorted sooner rather than later!
