Sterling and the hate he gets

Two reasons for the hate aimed at him , the colour of his skin and he had the audacity to leave Liverpool.
The so called war on racism is phoney. They just want it to be the preserve of the new ruling classes. One of the reasons our club gets so much clog is racism towards our owners in MSM, their owners and their agendas. Odd that Chelsea, owned by a Russian oligarch never gets any press about dirty oil money, human rights etc. The double standards are everywhere.

The daily fail this morning (didn’t read it just the first headline in its sports page). Where was sterling? In defence like the fucking rest you rag twat.

If Southgate had no intention of letting him take a pen, why did he not sub him off in ET and let Sancho or Rashford run at the Italians. Poor management is to blame for this game tbh no individual player.
Wrong tactics, wrong team, wrong formation, poor substitutions, bizarre penalty planning and execution - all were down to the totally inept manager’s decisions.

Roberto on the other hand - I’m absolutely delighted for him by the way - as usual got his tactics and formations spot on.

If “Bobby Manc” was the England coach we would be celebrating a win right now!

This England squad could go deep in the World Cup and potentially win it!
But not with this prick at helm
The FA’s yes man … end of

This is the elephant in the room.

Thanks to the Premier League academies (not the FA and St George's Park) we now have an emerging generation of players that rival any team in the world. But Gareth Southgate is not the man to mould that group into a winning team.

The silver lining from this tournament could be that Southgate and the FA realise that and we hand the job to any competent English manager (Eddie Howe, Graham Potter, whoever). But I suspect we will need to wait for after the next World Cup to see the back of Gareth.

Headlines on BBC all about the racial abuse of England players

Fucking disgusting.

He doesn't normally step up for City in shoot outs, apart Chelsea and the last Leicester league cup game where he chipped it over, so why anyone would have wanted or expected him to take one last night is beyond me.

He has put 2 in for city I can remember and missed 4 (+1 counting the retake).

Sterling getting shit for not taking a Penalty.

MSM really are horrible racist bastards.

Sterling has never been a great penalty taker. Hence why would he step up to take a defining penalty like that, and fuck it up.

MSM are just gutted they can not give Sterling Dogs abuse today.

Even though he isn't directly responsible for England exit, they make him responsible.

I didn't get the criticism of Sterling (and Grealish) at the time, and Grealish's comments today have backed up my view.
Do these people think that Southgate and his backroom team who are meticulous in their detail and planning, using data analysis and stats etc, simply got to the 120th minute of a major football final and asked for a show of hands to see who fancied taking a penalty?
The 5 were surely chosen weeks ago and had been practising??

That's not even before we get into Sterling's record from the spot. Why would anyone want him to take one given he misses more than he scores?

The clamour to blame him last night was ridiculous in my opinion.

It's pretty straight forward regards last night.
The shit house element of the country who have been digging him out for years will try and paint him as a coward etc for not stepping up whilst the Sane amongst us will appreciate he had a fantastic overall tournament but wasn't one of the managers picks to take one of the first 5 pens.

This 100% agree.

Sterling would be the first to admit penalty taking is not his strongest point.

Why the fuck would he step up to "fuck up" a defining penalty.

Like i said earlier the hate for Sterling in MSM is pathological. It goes all the way back to him leaving Liverpool to join us.

I dont have any problem with Sterling not taking a penalty yesterday as I've already said, but I do wonder if he's going to be happy going the rest of his career as a guy who just doesn't take pens? He's only 26.

I think if I were him, I'd tell City to go out and find the best penalty coach in the world if they exist, or if not have a club analyst go out and breakdown the technique of some brilliant penalty takers and then spend a few hours a week with a coach and Steffen or a youth keeper just learning a reliable technique of how to take them.

Penalties are a skill, and if you dont have that skill you can go out and learn it. Practise, practise, practise. Build up some confidence on the training pitch and then take some for City.

Sterling is in the unique position that both City and England need more penalty takers. He could add 10 goals a season to his game if he made himself a decent taker. City would love it, England would be better for it.

The other thing is England should stop giving Kane every penalty in qualifiers when they're 3-0 up vs. Bulgaria. Let others take a few penalties and get used to it.

This is the penalty record of England players

They've got until November 2022 to get more players confident enough to step up. Kane isn't going to gain anything from taking more. Give them to Sancho, Foden, Mount, Henderson etc.

I read that leading up to, and during, the Euro's, that they had been practising penalties.
So the manager must have been comfortable with who was taking them.
I read the same and they’d done this at the World Cup too. From what I’ve seen the articles about Sterling are mainly quotes taken from Roy Keane or Mourinho. Neither of these two will know what has gone on in training and I’m also guessing don’t know of Sterling’s record from the penalty spot. Basically they’re chatting shit and the papers are regurgitating it.

He is blamed for not taking a pen .

Sterling can't win here, saw it from miles away knowing the game's ending in a penalty shootout.

As City fans, think we all know Sterling's not great at penalties. If he does indeed take it and missed, the media would be hanging him out to dry all the same.

It's just a case of the team lost, and everyone needs someone to blame.

Took me awhile, wondering what has Leroy Sane got to do with this
