That's kind of just who Pep is. He's said unambiguously in the past that he'd prefer to have a squad of about 20 players and train with just them every day, and bringing youngsters to train with the first team seems like more of an inconvenience than an opportunity to him. Foden was an exception presumably because the board forced his hand by pointing out that Foden was probably better than the likes of Nolito (who'd have thought?).

I'm assuming the next manager after Pep will be someone like Kompany who places more emphasis on youth because he knows he can't just try and keep doing exactly what Pep did. Kind of like Lampard for Chelsea, who got a few real quality first-teamers out of it.

If he wants to play Gundo or Foden at False9 ahead of Delap then that isn't because he has something against youth player it is because he believes that is the better option, ultimately he is here to win football matches.

The next manager will be expected to win trophies, not give out some token appearences to youth players just to prove a point that we play kids. Lampard gave chances to youth players, perhaps too many because he didn't get the results and got sacked.

On the community shield, I will probably try get a ticket, haven't been to a match in person for 18mths so will take this chance.

Yeah, which is fucking bizarre. That's my point. He has so little interest in our academy players that he believes putting others wildly out of position is a better option.

Seen Kaspers comments about wanting England to lose because of Sterlings dive. Found it abit hypercritical because vardy has won alot of penalties for Leicester in the same way and hasn't been called a diver and he is clearly happy for Vardy to do it.

Look we know that any player for other clubs will never be called out for diving. Our players could have their leg broken by an illegal tackle and would still be accused of diving. We just have to grin and bear it and keep showing our achievements. :-) c’est la vie

That depends, are you saying that Pep genuinely believed that Stones at DM was a better option than an academy player?

Fact is he doesn't like to use them and Delap last season is a great indicator of that. He literally put Bernardo Silva at false 9 instead.

I think Bernardo is a hugely better footballer than Delap, and as such yes is more suited to a forward role in our team than Delap at the moment, in my opinion. I think Delap is extremely raw and would benefit from some experience elsewhere before playing for a top of the table, champions league winning (or hoping to) side. Stones hasn’t played DM for a while now
 
The last train is the only realistic option after the final whistle, assuming it may go to pens. Anything earlier can’t be done. Does anyone know why the journey time has increased by an hour? Is this HS1 ffs. More importantly will the club be putting the tickets on sale the week before the game a la CL final?
