Political relations between UK-EU

Its a stand off then. Thing is where Johnson, Frost and co. may have slipped up is although neither side will like the immediate after effects the EU can tell them to fuck off - suffer the consequences and hope the result is this shower get mullered and some adults take the reins.

Tories need a big bad to unite the Gammonati.

They can murder millions, remove our rights to protest, and make asylum seekers "disappear". But the EU keeping the UK to an agreement they signed off on is tantamount the a declaration of war!

Funny old world.

They are going to leave us on the back burner lol

Who needs a change to the agreement more. A bunch of londoncentric MPs who have clicked their haste for Brexit means Belfast could become the economic centre of the UK, or a 27 state European Union which can pretty much get their trade from every other nation/federation on earth?

yep - they can turn our shops into those last seen in 70's East Germany or Romania and make spare car parts almost unobtainable and just wait for the public to turn on who is at fault and as I say wait for an adult to turn up at the helm

If you care about your country, and fear for its future out of the EU, I urge you not to watch the whole Cummings interview. It’s one of the most profoundly depressing and upsetting things ive ever watched.

These cunts did it for a fucking laugh. There was no plan, no reason, no logic. They just did it for the buzz.

Why? I didn’t read anywhere in there that it’s the product that is in short supply…. but the supply chain struggling with people having to self isolate due to COVID.

It’s a joke. The sausages that is.

The supply chains are slowly degrading because of Brexit. A lot of internal UK deliveries were made by EU drivers, ie a delivery from France to Scotland would also see the driver deliver from Scotland to Manchester, then Manchester to London, then London to France.

We are not getting the same flow of traffic hence the pressure on supply chains. Self isolation is just an additional factor on an already stretched supply chain.

The No.10 spokesman said: “Lord Frost and the business secretary have launched a consultation on reforming and modernising the way regulation and rules are set in the UK to slash *Brexit red tape*.” @HuffPost.

Brexit red tape. The solution is - legally align with EU rules and just like that, the red tape starts to disappear.

BBC news managed a piece on driver shortage, without mentioning that (or the EU drivers working for UK hauliers).

They did it because their lobbies wanted them to, many of which seem to have tentacles outside of this country. Agriculture/horticulture has been thrown into the wind and other countries are being given tariff free agreements to export to us. There’s obviously many more coming out of the woodwork and it will only be a matter of time before we see the big picture.

I live very close to the main route from E Anglia to Immingham/Grimsby which leads along what is locally known as the Caistor High Street. It is usually very, very busy with trucks but yesterday I drove along part of it yesterday and it was empty. Nothing, nada, I was expecting a reduction in traffic but this road was empty. Great for us as we got places really quick.

Same in Boston this morning on the road to the docks.

Thing is, during the height of the pandemic, full lockdown, supply chains coped. The only issue was demand blipping above supply norms and the chains having to adjust.

Yet ‘lockdown’ is over, we are fully open and now we have supply issues?

It makes you wonder if the government is encouraging the "pingdemic" to give them an excuse for these problems, when the reality is that it's down to Brexit related issues.

I Work in logistics and this is spot on, it's a perfect storm.
Add the above to close to zero Ocean freight capacity, very reduced air freight capacity because of the lack of passenger aircraft flying. Extra capacity constraints and cost issues with air freight because of the Ocean freight situation and sending shipments to pretty much anywhere in the world is a cluster fuck.

I don’t wonder!
I would expect this sham of a government to do exactly that.
The muddier they make the waters, the harder it is to see the picture.

But the pinging seems more of a problem now in all sectors, so either
(a) it was less noticeable as less was happening in lockdown (places closed, fewer trains / buses) and
more people are about
(b) more people have the app
(c) more people who are infected are still going out
(d) more people are infected than the official stats
(e) the £37bn test and trace programme wasn't very good

But as lorry drivers don't have workplaces, and work alone, they were less at risk of transmission so yes it's a Brexit issue

Brexit has weakened the supply chains at exactly the wrong moment, but it suits the narrative to pin the blame entirely on an App that is doing what it is designed to do.

Brexit requires an extraordinary amount of effort in proving 2+2=5. On one hand we pump up ’free trade deals’ and how we are ‘reducing trade barriers’ while simultaneously exiting from a trade arrangement which is specifically designed to reduce and eliminate trade barriers and then complain that the EU is putting up trade barriers.

The doublethink involved must be exhausting, except we have conditioned ourselves to believe otherwise and we can no longer see or recognise objective truth.

We're getting close to living in an Orwellian dystopia from 1984.
