Harry Kane

If you can be arsed go find the Kyle Walker thread.

So many spooky similarities ... from "Levy will never sell" to "he's average and overrated" to "he's injury prone and can't play 3 games a week that's why they're selling him". People really don't like Spurs A LOT on here, and it shows when even taking their best players sends the forum into meltdown.
Tbh, I'd add that neither Kane nor Walker are particularly exotic in name, appearance, or playstyle, like Grealish and Haaland are for instance. And as we know from player threads, style beats substance for many.

At the time everyone was having kittens over the 'vast amount of money' being spent on Walker. So no different whatsoever IMO.

Ultimately the club have decided they want Kane and are going to pay a British transfer record fee for him. That's perfectly normal for arguably the best number 9 in the country and top 3 or top 5 in the world. It's also pretty funny that a lot of the same people who are arsed about his fee, think we should pay whatever it takes to Raiola, Alfie, Dortmund, and Haaland himself.

You CANNOT judge a transfer before it's happened, absolutely not. Certainly not the fee nor the players wages. Doing that is how you end up with headlines like "the 50 million pound flop". Again IMO of course.
Even when we bought Walker, going from 40m to 50m then vs 100m to 150m now is a big difference.

I'm not gonna judge the transfer or do any of that your claiming, I'm simply claiming that I don't believe City will go 50% over their initial offer. We have never showed any willingness to go substantially over initial offers.

You clearly have some inside information of the sort to believe City will pay this sum... I simply don't believe it until I see it.

If we get Kane then great, he is the best striker in the prem and improves us.

If we have any aspirations of taking that title back from that filth over in Merseyside then Harry Kane has to be the player we go all out for this transfer window.

It’s obvious Pep rates him very highly and is always complimentary about him. Yes Levy would be a nightmare to deal with but we have done business with him before so it’s not totally out the picture and with the stadium debt and covid crippling finances he may want to cash in on an asset while he’s got chance.

Aguero hasn’t long left and Jesus just simply isn’t good enough to play for us, we need a ruthless centre forward and Kane is exactly that. Can you imagine him being fed in the chances that we create?
Err.......???

TBH, I don't get involved in fees/wages - or at least I try not to. For the reasons I said in the post you replied to. If a player is a success (KDB or Raz) - nobody ever talks about their fee or wages again.

In terms of the club, Spurs, and Kane. There's been a significant amount of inflation since we bought Walker. The top strikers in the world are all being valued at in excess of 100 million pounds, so the fee is going to eye watering whoever we sign if we go for a top line one. And that will smash our previous transfer record. It is what it is, but personally I think Kane is as you say, the best in the league and will massively improve us.

Paul Pogba like this post

If we sign Harry this is what the front 5 will look like.

Kdb Bernardo/Gundogan
Mahrez/Torres Kane/Jesús Foden/Sterling

Keeping everyone happy could be tricky.

Kane is technically on another level to Haaland. That's not a dig at Haaland either, because the boy has got YEARS to improve and no doubt his ceiling is as high as Kane's if not higher. It's just right now, Kane can already play as a playmaker in midfield and his passing technique and his vision are almost KDB'esque at times.

I guess I'm trying to say that I think that Kane has tons of 'style' to his game. In many respects he's very similar to Grealish in that he's got a bit of nasty Englishness about him, but also got bags of technique. Not sure how Jacky boy has ended up as the toast of Bluemoon whilst Kane is considered to be an unsexy lump.

Not if Pep insist of his CL final formqtion and ditches a holding midfileder in favour of Kev or Gundo playing deeper

But teah will be an embarrasment of riches so something will probanly have to give

Would assume Bernie will be off and there will be plenty of injuries. 8/5 positions isn’t bad with the amount of games we have plus Torres is probably a bit of way from being a real regular starter yet anyway.

Bloody hell just worked it out if Harry gets that 400k a week I would have to work 42 hrs a week for 7 years to match one week of his pay. Talk about living the dream.

It’ll be interesting to see if he gets ‘a knock in training’ the week before the Spurs game. Reckon it’ll be in the deal that he can’t play, purely because it’s the first game of the season and it happens to be at this then former home.
