In aviation terms I think they're fighting to control the aircraft and are are looking for a place to land. At least they have a fairly competent captain and first officer onboard. Conversely the other party are trying to dismantle the autopilot and unscrewing the rudder whilst pouring sand into the fuel tanks.
Not to mention fucking underage kids in the lavs and emptying the plane of those little liquor bottles.

A compelling message doesn't convince cult members to vote for you. IT'S A CULT.

Most of the cult might be beyond reach, but some might be peeled off.

I would suggest that the third of Americans who didn't vote in 2020 might be susceptible to a compelling message.

They'll survive the way Bill Clinton did: "It's the economy, stupid." Dude -- we're coming out of a pandemic. Just as Clinton was coming out of a recession, and Obama was coming out of the financial crisis. An up-and-to-the-right chart heals a lot of short-term (albeit not long-term) ills.

The American economy is an amazing thing, when it bounces back it really bounces back. It papers over cracks but keeps rolling along, fingers crossed there isn't another financial crash and you'd better hope that the Democrats reap the political capital.

Having said that, Nancy P thumbs-downing cult members on the 1/6 committee was a start. Force them to expend their oxygen down narrow partisan distribution channels, not national (i.e. committee chambers) ones.

Pelosi is milking it for all it's worth. Without wishing to appear callous, that crying Policeman is political gold for the Democrats, I've a gut feeling that time and tide and the steady drip, drip of grubby revelations exposing just how odious the GOP really is might well be their undoing, now that Trump no longer has the bully pulpit.

Good luck.

We've still got our bargain basement Trump with no prospect of getting him out any time soon, and our coiffured buffoon has no fear of the opposition coming out with a compelling message. Starmer wouldn't recognise a compelling message if it came crashing through the ceiling and killed him.

PS: I'm assuming you're an American and not an ex pat Brit. I'm acutely aware that as an American you have a dog in the race and I do not, plus you're on the ground and I am not, and the important point, it's your bloody country and not mine. You know it intimately, it's yours and you love it, so you have a right to feel these things on a visceral level, as I do about my country's clusterfuck.

To all the "you don't know what the world is like through my eyes" and "when are Democrats going to get off Trump and onto important topics like climate change and wealth inequality" types . . . let me show you how I look at it, through actual American eyes.

Here's what we're dealing with: lies underlying the fundamental fabric of one political party. Awful lies. The worst KIND of lies because they go directly to the heart of the survival of the nation and its democratic processes -- as imperfect and flawed and changeable as they are . . . .

This is the fucking GOP conference chair:

I couldn't give a FUCK about Democratic platforms, promises, pace of change and all that bullshit, because there's something more important at stake: the right to have these discussions. A nation to have these discussions in. The ability to express preference for change if I don't like the direction the nation is going.

I'm supporting the ability to decide how I want to fix the problems you see and have and who I think is best equipped to address them. You and I may disagree about who is best equipped to fix them. That's fine. I have no issue there.

But the thing is . . . I can't make those calls if a party that supports a fundamental overthrow of US democracy and way of governing is in power. YOUR issues won't BE addressed, and nor will MY issues, as different as our issues may be. THAT'S why I supported Biden. And why I support voting every last GOP cult adherent out.

Every. Single. One.

That is completely fucked up! Not your post, the video.

That‘s how I see it with all country’s, it’s their members that have the say on the political landscape as they are the only ones who can make change. We can give opinions on others but in the end it’s just that.

I'm buying season tickets to protesters shouting down fascists who are spreading lies about 1/6.

I'm sure a certain poster will hop on soon blaming us for not being there to protest and . . . oh, wait, I forgot: he's not interested in protesting against them; they aren't the problem, it's Biden.

On another note, Greene is dumber than a wet bag of dead salmon.

Great post. We may not agree on everything, but our spirits are aligned. Good luck over there. I prefer Boris to Trump viscerally, the same way I prefer a root canal with not enough anesthesia to a root canal with no anesthesia.

Good job he loves America unlike those American hating athletes that represent the country (that he hates).

What a cranially-impaired bit of three-day old anal crust.

It's a nice reflection of what regular old normal Americans -- who typically, you know, root for their country in sports -- face when we encounter cult members.

How do you "work with" or "convince" someone who agrees with this lisping no-necked mung-drenched fingerfucker?

He's a fascist.

Fascist is a term too often used, but this guy is the real deal blood and soil. There is only one America, his America, and those who don't comply are the other, and we know what happens to the other.

Imagine for a moment he had power, real power, where would that lead?

It’s very scary.

Now imagine for a moment that there was this guy in an election running against a moderate Democrat, and you refused to vote because the Democrat “wasn’t progressive enough.” Never mind that your vote might be critical to preventing a fascist from holding sway over the land.

Oh wait, I don’t have to imagine — that’s the choice I faced and I took the moderate Democrat while others here of a “progressive” bent would have looked the other way and let it happen and even been happy because the “incrementalist” would have lost.

As they say, perfection is the enemy of success.

(Though people that have experienced little to no success would probably not be aware of this)

Just tourists though, right?

Nearly every single response to Officer Dunn's testimony is calling it fake because body cam footage hasn't been released. Just to cover themselves there are also some comments saying that even if body cam footage is released they won't believe it because it will have been doctored. These fucking cunts are so far down the rabbit hole it's unbelievable, and the scary thing is that they include nearly half the senators and reps in congress and many of those running state legislatures. Really can't see how America gets itself out of this mess now that a lunatic fringe has become mainstream. I used to think that once the narrative starts to break down, those in influential positions would be racing to distance themselves from it, but it seems that they see their best chance of survival and future power is to double down on the madness.
